You've posted 700+ times!

If it's related to, or involves, Sheffield then post in the Sheffield related forum. If it's national, international or generally not local related, post it in the General Chat forum. Also your original title of "spiritualists" isn't really descriptive...

mixed review of the church. lots of mmm's and arrrr's but actually got a reading as we sat in rows. some things were spot on, lots were very general that could have related to everyone. I ve got a feeling they get taught how to work the audience and understand body lang and work with bit syou give away.
bit sceptical, but am keeping open minded and going next monday
thank you:D

Natalie

Please be careful as I think that these meetings are cleverly designed to reel you in with carefully researched flashes of brilliance, no matter how cynical or strongminded you think you are.

I don't believe that Spiritualist Churches are based in christian principles although I'm sure someone will argue differently.

However I am openminded and went along when Derren Brown the magician of Channel 4 did his show in Sheffield a few months back. Part of his act was spiritualist ( I won't give the game away in case I spoil it for fans) however I was amazed how utterly real (and actually scary/evil) it all seemed.

I have to say that I don't think it's a particularly healthy area of "religion" , and if I am being blunt I think it's a cruel way of preying on people's weaknesses. Just exercise caution and as you sound like a fair minded person maybe balance up your experience by going along to different churches - I found the church I go to by "shopping around" and experiencing different types before feeling that this one was "right" because of its ethos, its people and where I was at that stage of my life.

I'm not trying to preach at you or anything, but I just want you to be careful.

(P.s Derren Brown, used to be a Christian and now is a self-proclaimed born again athiest)

as the last week has gone on, i have realised some of the things the man mentioned and told me to look for, but i suppose if you wait long enough things are gonna happen! i dont personally believe spiritualists should say they are linked to christianity anyway as my old vicar said its the work of the devil?!
i do know people who have being sucked in, im only going outta curiousity as a few strange things have happened lately and i needed to know why. I do agree with the "shop around" tactic though and thats what i intend to do, but thanks very mcuh for advice:thumbsup:

Natalie of sheffield...
I too am and have been interested in spiritualism for many years.. and have become involved... People only get out of this religon what they want from it... I agree some mediums spiritualist churches work differently.. please except these if u can't this religion isn't for u..
As for Bold St at Attercliffe, well my views are that this is the most friendly helpful spiritualist church in sheffield... This is of course my opinion.. The people are friendly and warm hearted, and not forgetting this particular church is open nearly 7 days a week.. and these people that run it do it VOLUNTARY no pay what does this say to u, if they were out to con people then surely they would charge, would they not.....
there services are... Mondays open circle 7.30 till 9pm
tues. open circle 1.30pm till 3.pm
Wed, Demonstration of clairvoyance 7.30pm till 9pm
this day a small charge of £1 is asked of u this is to pay for the travelling expenses of the visiting medium... only not to pay anyones wages...
Sat open circle 7pm till 8,30pm
sun divine service 6.30pm till 7.45pm
this church is wonderful...
In all religons, jobs, all walks of life we meet people we either don't understand or like. we move on as adults, but to put down critisism when our knowledge is little can be damaging...
As a spiritualist I know my life is much richer, We all find our way to better lifes this is mine
Maybe one day it will be yours.

Use to frequent bold street a lot of years ago .
Thinking of giving it a try.
How long ago was it you went there wattsy?.
I once joined the circle as i was baffled as i sometimes saw and see colours above certain people ,so they asked me to join the circle.

Anyone recommend the stocksbridge one.
I once went to one that was held near the scout shop in town
i think it was in a building of scout quarters or something.
you had to pay on door the woman who came was suppose to be a bit well known but frankly she was rubbish.

Yup - tonight on Hallam FM at 11pm.

We've got two of them in doing some readings and stuff.

Look up 'cold reading' on Google to research some of the tricks they use.
Then you can be armed with the basics if some nasty fakes are preying on you. Cold reading is absolutely fascinating. I watched Johnathan Edward's, Crossing Over programme after doing extensive research and found the statistical 'hits' accurate. It's clever, its entertaining, its also tripe.
Very bizarre how people conveniently only remember the hits and forget the huge amount of misses. Also interesting just how many people give too much away in their answers and often swear that they never told anyone and gave anything away - half of them are blabbing their life history.
