A very odd request, but does anyone have any photos of the old computer shops Sheffield had in the 80's - Just Micro, Laskys, downstairs in Boots and the like?
If not, please feel free to rant on about how great they were anyway!

I'm not sure where this one is, but I think it's Laskey's - could very well be Just Micro/Gremlin though:

Remember Microbyte at Meadowhall? Shelves full of PC-Engine games. :D

Hi.
Not got any photos of the shops but do remember Just Micro on Carver Street very well! Ahh the glorious days of the Zx Spectrum eh lol.
What was the computer games shop that surfaced under the Castle Market on the main road where Wilkinsons is etc? I bought loads of games from there in the late 80s. The name Software Superstore rings a bell actually and Im sure they had a loyalty/discount card scheme.
Even remember buying the Amstrad CF2 3" discs from there!!!

Yep, it was Software Superstore. Used to get C64 games from there, and also my first Japanese MegaDrive with Thunder Force III and Rastan Saga II. Got it on credit and had to go in every week with my payment card and give 'em a few quid. :D
I used to get really excited about new releases in those days. Maybe Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on DS will fix this jaded gamer.
Didn't SS close after some dodgy inside job robbery?

I don't have any photos but I used to use pure logic in south elmsall when I wanted discs for my dragon 32.
They were so good I still use them today.
call them on 01977 649100 for a PC with real after sales service.

I dont' have any pics, sorry. I have good memories of them, though.
I used to frequent downstairs Boots, downstairs WHSmiths and Laskys.
I used to do the same program on the BBCs and Acorn Electrons: displaying random colours and graphics in mode 2 (someone will know what that means!)
Part of the program I did was to disable the <Break> and <Esc> buttons. An easy thing to do, but above and beyond the skill level of Laskys sales staff - they had to turn off the whole bank of PCs to reset them. They barred me! Cheeky sods! I was only trying to show the capabilities of the wonderful 16-range colour pallette the BBC posessed!

Bwah hah hah! Look at Stuzza :)
Mind, he's the one living on a gold yacht, whilst I reside in Darnall :(
Look at the size of that C64! Marvel at the green screen monitors! Gasp at the 64k of memory!!
Nice find Jod!
(I'd also heard that Software Superstore closed cos the staff were selling stock out the back door, so to speak....)
