Last saturday I had a tonne of topsoil and 20 sq metres of turf delivered from a company that frequently gets recommended by SF users. Got home from work tonight and had a close look to see if there were any problems caused by the heavy rain. Couldn't believe it when I saw mushrooms growing all over it:mad:

Now I never had them growing on my last knackered lawn so it must have come from either the new topsoil or the turf itself. Is this normal/acceptable or should I go back and complain? I've re-landscaped my garden from scratch over the last few months and put a hell of a lot of physical effort into it. I wanted to crown it all with a nice lawn and now feel that this foreign invasion of mushrooms has tarnished it somewhat.

I'd complain if I were you- it's not like it's been with you for anything like long enough for you to have done anything wrong enough to make them grow all over it.

Whether it's from the topsoil or turf could be very hard to prove though- did you get them from the same place?

Fortunately I got both the topsoil and turf from the same place so it won't be hard to prove who supplied the dodgy stuff! I'll give them a ring and see what they say.

I have mushrooms growing in mine as well but I was quite pleased! Top soil from Pagets and turf from A1. What's up with mushrooms?

regular cutting of the lawn should sort that out not much survives regular cutting like a grass

Count yourself as lucky, free mushrooms and free fertiliser.

Update. Finally the grass had its first cut last weekend once it was dry enough after the recent wet spell. It was that long the mushrooms had given up and withered and died :) No sign of them reappearing yet so another cut on Saturday will hopefully banish them forever.
