View Full Version : Thunder Thunder Thunder
LitleMermaid 15-06-2007, 17:21 Well I'm sat here feeling a little titchy bit scared cos I'm alone in the house and the thunder and lightening is getting quite bad, and I though the cats were being really brave, they were not at all bothered until we got this HUGE roll of thunder. They CRAPPED theirselves. April is currently hiding behind the PC and Ginger dived under the couch but shes shivering on my knee now. BLESS!
Are your pets bothered by the thunder? Or are mine just big huge wusses?:hihi:
baileys_mum 15-06-2007, 17:24 Mine aren't too fussed unlike me
I'm going to hide somewhere, anyone coming?
None of mine, cats or dogs bother - unless they need a pee and have to go out in it - then the dogs are nightmares... I hope it doesn't continue otherwise tonight will be murder trying to get Takara to wee before bed...
LitleMermaid 15-06-2007, 17:52 baileys_mum- under my bed, I have choccy stashed there-quick!;)
Lotti, you should really teach Takara to wee on the loo, then all your problems would be solved!:hihi:
baileys_mum 15-06-2007, 18:00 Oh lovely jubbly LM, can we see a tv from under your bed? I'll bring a bottle of wine :D
LitleMermaid 15-06-2007, 18:09 No T.V, in bedroom, had to move it into living room cos big one broke:(
Suppose we could always make a dash for under the sofa instead?:D I'll grab the phone on the way and order a pizza:hihi:
Lilly has just heard the thunder and proceeded to jump about barking at it and then freaking out and whining. I don't think she understands that she doesn't need to try and protect us from it!
baileys_mum 15-06-2007, 18:15 I've closed my curtains but I can still see it! I'm a big wuss arent I :hihi:

Haha just a tiny little bit of a wuss yeah, bless you:cool:
Moonbird 15-06-2007, 18:28 I like the thunder and lightening, Durham looks mildly suprised and even lifted his head at one big crash  Poppy cat went up on the windowsill to see what was going on she has now given up and gone to sleep, Lucy dog has been giving it a good telling off, which would seem to have suitably chastised it as it appears to be passing over now :hihi:

They probably sensed your fear and it scared them a little too:)
Precious insisted on being out in it
I went out with the brolly twice to see if she wanted to come in.
But she stayed put!

Can I come too? (I'm not scared of the thunder but you said the magic word...)
The dobermutt refuses to go outside still and keeps doing the pacing-up-and-down-in-that-annoying-doberman-claws-clicking-on-wooden-flooring way she has that REALLY infuriates. She'll get a boot up the bum and a prod outside soon though, can't be doing with this much longer...
With regards to the thunder 'n lightening, all beasts here are OK except for our timid agraphobic old moggie Minty (who, let's face it, is scared of her own shadow). The other cats keep going up to the window to investigate and the daft dobe is too engrossed in her plastic chicken and mounting collection of stuffed meowing cats to pay any attention to the weather. Gerbils are blissfuly unaware and continuing to snooze with Amber the mad maine coon cureld up on top of their tank - funny 'cos previous gerbs have always done that foot stomping thing when the weather has turned.

The more the merrier! Although we might need to replenish supplies, I do have a very sweet tooth and I was very very hungry....:hihi:
The thunder's stopped now though, so we can bring our duvets into the living room and gather round the TV! Get your hairbrushes (microphones lol) ready!
*rewinds Grease*:D
Yup, I could do Grease - or if I need cheering up, Love Actually or Jack & Sarah.
Hide the Maltezers though- the dobermutt can hear the packet rustling a half mile away...
Lollipop22 15-06-2007, 21:03 my big mean staffy is scared to death lol always happens when we have a storm, hope it doesn't carry on all night cos she always ends up under my duvet....bless
Bailey and Petie shihtzu are completely unbothered, as are my cats.
Taz big scary bully of a border collie goes backwards with her ears doing impressions of the radar dishes on airport terminals though- she's a very strange creature indeed.

Hmm... she's good but she's not that good! I can't even get her to wee outside unless it's on grass or leaves and smells just right!
Medusa - Takara does the radar ears in reaction to just about everything even when I've got a treat out it's like 'ooooooh' and the ears start flapping!
I am eating my words though - shortly after posting my original response to this thread I found Eddy visibly shaking under the table with huge brown eyes!
Katkin - Is she pacing because she needs the loo? I wish Takara would just pace when she needed the loo! Last night she wouldn't do anything when taken out because of the rain but was desperate for the loo so each time we brought her back in she proceeded to stand on her back legs and scratch the wall until we took her out again  It is incredibly infuriating!
kittenta 15-06-2007, 21:55 One of my cats hides behind the furniture but the others aren't bothered. I called to my mothers earlier and my brothers dog was going mad, barking, howling and running about everywhere! My mother was at work so he was there alone bless him :(

Hi Lotti - yes, Ailsa does do the pacing thing when she wants the loo but also, it is a general Doberman thing, by all accounts- a lot of dobes trained as guard dogs tend to pace and are not comfortable sitting- they are either on the go or laying flat. Ailsa isn;t a guard dog as such, but her background has strong schutzhund in it(you'd think that would mean I have a superbly obedient dobe, but sadly not). xk
My rats don't seem in the least bit bothered.
The spiders however...strange as it seems, before a storm/really heavy rain they will often climb as high as they can in their tanks.
Not sure if they know the storm is coming (atmospheric pressure etc) and dont want to be drowned in their burrows or wether it is just coincidence.
I can feel a PhD coming on....
 Takara has a lot of working background in her too Katkin and she's not a superbly obedient dal either  (Although - as a breed I don't think they're really famous for their obedience skills!! I get a fair few people stopping and saying 'OMG - well behaved dalmatians! Well behaved is not in relation to other breeds, btw)
LitleMermaid 16-06-2007, 17:00 Awww Lotti that's quite mardy-I had wonderful visions of T sat on the loo reading the paper:lol: How freaky would that be?:D
We are beagle babysitting tonight, so April is marching round on her tiptoes, with an arched back and chipmonk tail, and Ginge is nowhere to be found....:suspect:
 Bless! Both of my cats just disappear when a strange dog comes in. Smudge hates our dogs, Smitch hates Eddy who pays no attention to her whatsoever (but is ok with the boisterous mad one :loopy: )
Eddy doesn't care about the cats and T thinks they're fab!!

When I have canine visitors I can usually tell where Baby is because the sofa growls and spits a lot!

Funny, we have a growling couch some days too!
Maybe we bought them from the same place:suspect:
:hihi:
Im not sure what my lot would be like witha strange dog- they just accept Ailsa- but I bet the barmy bengal would try to have a go...
