Im a season ticket holder.... renewed today!:D
I am a armchair supporter as you say, some people have good reasons to being an armchair fan but that does not make them a lesser supporter than one that goes to all the matches, for instance financial reasons,my reason is where I live & the fact I am disabled. But I am an avid Blades fan who hurts just as much as a fan who goes to the matches.
Robbie Loving 15-06-2007, 14:00 Not a season ticket holder, but go to majority of games :D
Stockers 15-06-2007, 14:37 I'm a season ticket holder along with 16k other Blades fans, i hear Wednesday reached the 6500 mark last week, then again if you renewed today best make that 6501.

Did you have one the season before last? The season that Wednesday and United wiere in the same league, facing the same number of away fans, and Wednesday averaged a higher attendance?
p.s. I'm a season ticket holder - have been since the 1980's

Yes, had a season ticket on and off since about '87, had one the season before last when we beat you 1-0 at the Lane and your average attendance was a thousand more than ours. Well done!!!

Was a Blades season ticket holder for many seasons when I lived in Blighty and saw many what they now call Premiership and League Championship grounds on my travels on the old SUT coaches :gag: and the newer Dunn coaches :D
Got me thinking now...Did the owls fans used to take SUT coaches away ?
Always saw grunters in Pond street when you lot were away ...Serious question btw ;)
had my season ticket for the blades for about 5 months now.

The SWFC team coach was owned by SUT.
It was however painted in blue and white. This was in the fifties/sixties.
bladebloke 15-06-2007, 15:58 better than a season ticket holder for the last 2 seasons. pay for each game as it comes thus paying more in the long run than a season ticket holder.
im not a season ticket holder but i go to as many matches as i can.
happyhippy 15-06-2007, 20:43 Season ticket holder since 1485.

but even in your time in the prem with band wagon jumpers you could'nt manage 30,000 average the best you did was 29,000 when you qualified for europe. we did 32,000 and aint been out of bottom six all season. and our away support is limited to 2,700 because of the ground capacity otherwise the average would have been around the 36,000 mark. whilst your away capacity is around 7,000.
ps the last sheffield team to average over 30,000 in a season... united again 1973.

maybe this was due to having to buy tickets for 3 games rather then 1, making that you could not pick your games, whereas when wednesday played in the premiership you could buy for any game you liked, rather then been told which games you had to go to

Different times now I'm afraid. Even Weds are guilty of doing such things whilst playing in the Championship.
Anyways, there has not been one game this season for the blades where you was FORCED to buy more than one ticket for a game.

dont know where you've got that from mate but your wrong.
i did'nt get a season ticket last season but went to all the home games. just went down week before and bought them at the ticket office. 1 game at a time. plus i don't pick and choose me and my daughter go to them all. utb

Back in the 90's when the best owls did was 29,000 were totally different days mate. less people went to football full stop. I still remember wednesday having the 4th or 5th biggest attendances in the prem at the time. behind man u, arsenal, liverpool etc. You'll have to check that out for me as I'm not very computer literate but I'm sure thats correct.
I also don't see how having a larger away capacity would have brought our average attendance up to 36,000? Apart from the big clubs, i can't see why most prem clubs would bring over 3 or 4,000 to bdtbl. please explain?

man city brought 2,700 to lane at christmas. they took 7,000 to sty a few weeks later. man united could have sold 10,000 plus if given the tickets newcastle always take good numbers the likes of arsenal, chelsea everton spurs could have brought close on 5,000. west ham not great travellers but because of the importance of the match could have brought more and the wigan chairman said they could have easilly sold 10,000. off set this with the poor support of charlton, blackburn, fulham. and i reckon it averages out at least another 4,000 on the average attendance. thus taking it to 36,000.

where did u get 32,000 from in the first place. I still dont agree, and wigan could never bring 10,000 are you barmy?lol

sorry getting confused 32,000 the capacity the average was 30,512.
so you don't agree. how many tickets do you believe. man utd, man city, liverpool, everton, newcastle, spurs, west ham, arsenal, villa, portsmouth, and yes wigan would have sold if given limitless tickets.
agree wigans support is p**s poor but for that game they said they could have brought all there home support. donny get about 5,000 but did'nt they take 20 thou to that daft cup final.
and your right things were a lot differant in the 90's for a start was'nt as much live football on tele and it was'nt a squillion quid for a ticket. makes our gates even more impressive.

not sure of the ins and outs of the reason why the 90's was less supported, but we were 11th highest average this season i believe, like I said, I'm pretty sure wednesday were top 5 some seasons. forget the decade, that's impressive! whats the point in arguing about attendances, only until both sheff clubs are in the prem NOWADAYS will we be able to really compare, and I still can't see us beating them.Owls come from everywhere ,trust me! Not taking anything away from us, I thought support was crackin this year.
As for away attendances, if we had bigger ground and had equivelant of leppings lane end for example, yes I agree attendances would have been bigger.but possibly 33,34000 not the 36000 youre on about.but hey, thats just my opinion!who knows.cant see that it would have been higher than that though. And as for wigan, no chance pal!! its easy for them to say they could have brought all there home support but I can't see it somehow.
However, I think we've done great this season, home and away. Probably a good 28,000 home fans every match which I think is superb! Although I'll be the first to admit, thousands of them were fair weather! I sat next to two on the kop....think they were first timers from buxton???
Robbie Loving 16-06-2007, 20:10 on the same point though Manor blade, everyone has a first season..... its whether it carries on after that.

yep...im sure it would.
Whats the obsession wiv some blades on here to be as big as wendy?
we're not and never will be. We're the inner city club, be proud of it:D
Got me thinking now...Did the owls fans used to take SUT coaches away ?
...Serious question btw ;)
They did. All part of Sheffield life pre- eighties.
I remember one of their coaches catching fire on the A1 en route to Newcastle. It was a burnt out shell, but I think the "survivors" were all picked up by other coaches, to get to the game, before a replacement was commendeered for the return journey. Good job we took a few that day, otherwise they'd have been stuck near Scotch Corner!
I've kept my season ticket (and will whilst I remain in full time employment). I miss a fair few games, especially midweek due to geographical location, and often leave one blank Saturday a month as a gesture to my other half; but the heart is there even if the torso isn't.

think your on a wind up mate.
did'nt get a season ticket last season but only missed 8 home games in 34 years and travelled to over 120 differant grounds to watch them. including pre season friendlies in scotland benefit game in truro for one of our young players who died. went to all 46 games in division 4 in 81/82. and also travelled down to cardiff for mel reece's funeral and got very very drunk with mels dad at the wake.
no season ticket no supporter indeed.
crookesey 18-06-2007, 12:23 My son and I were season ticket holders at Hillsborough for many years, he went on his travels and I didn't enjoy going on my own. I tend to pick my games these days but still class myself as a true supporter, I am an armchair supporter of England and don't mind saying that I think that I know more about the game than a load of p....d up Margate supporters.
Just being a season ticket holder doesn't make you a true supporter, it does help but it's not everything. I hope to be spending a lot of my time in a warmer climate very soon and the odd TV game and forum chat will be all that is available to me other than a few visits to the theatre of dreams on trips back. Wednesday is in my heart and always will be.

I had a season ticket with mi Dad for the Laver Stand the year they opened it 1975-76 season.
Seen United all over England before coming to Canada and on various trips back to Sheffield etc.
I just cant agree with your above statement m8 .
For various reasons people cant get season tickets, like working away or living abroad or having to pay for the season tickets months before the season starts and dont have the cash on hand, Plus the normal fan is being priced out of the game.
I know of family and friends that cant afford to go every week.
Me being in Canada doesnt make me any less of a supporter of SUFC than someone living in Sheffield.
I carefully pick and choose my games now and its usually when the Blades have 3 matches in 10 days to make my trip worthwhile.
Regards and UTB

Dominican Republic was it CB? I wondered how my son and his girlfriend had managed to book a three weeks all inclusive there for only £1600.00 for the two of them.
Prices must have come down because of the sight of you wandering around in last years blunts shirt, cut down jeans, floral socks and open toed sandals resplendent in a Mounties hat. :hihi:
