Depends on what your after.
The Grapes is the best small venue in Sheffield and puts on a wide and varied selection of music.
The Boardwalk is a medium sized venue ( about 300) Has a load of good stuff on.

The Earl of Arundel are putting gigs on quite a lot at the moment. A very varied mixture.

The Cricketers is similar to the grapes but isn't putting gigs on at the moment. Will be soon.

The classic rock bar has free gigs every night and is a great place with cheap booze.

The Fez club will soon be open again and they are looking at putting on cheap gigs.

There is also The Leadmill, The foundry and The Octigon

id say boardwalk and leadmill

boardwalk is more local & covers bands but to me seems a bit of a dive. needs updating.

leadmill is best for bands for sure.

if your a bit more rock orientated then corporation has bands on all the time. :) i'm going there this weekend for a good old rockin'!

If you want some good live music in chilled surroundings check out Trippets on Trippet Lane or OneEleven Club on Arundel St

Think i prefer Boardwalk over leadmill, nicer vibe, better beer and less hectic

agreed about the boardwalk vibe etc., but some people prefer the busier club, and the leadmill just has such better bands.
