I keep getting this in my A V scan what is it and how can I get rid of it? Any help much appreciated.

It's the guts of the operating system.

It CAN be infected with malware occasionally, but I wouldn't go about deleting it.

Your AV sofwtare will tell you in no uncertain terms if it is infected.

Only if it is in the windows folder of Win 98 or Windows/system32/dllcache and Windows/system32/ folders of 2k/XP.
