Not surprised really to see how low he has sunk. Yes he was a good player and entertaining in his time but smoking and booze have got the better of him. I was once in town in the Grosvenor Hotel and people saw him and asked for his autograph and he just told them to fxxk off. A very flawed genius.

I always remember the incident in which a load of fan letters etc were found either on the Snake or Woodhead during the course of one world championships some time ago now.

They were all addressed to Alex Higgins, who I believe lived in the Manchester area at the time.

It makes you a little cautious about the term "peoples champion"
