A couple of months ago, I bought a copy of Knit Today. There was a waitcoat pattern in which is made with Colinette Giotto yarn.

I did start it last week but I put it down again. Its the first thing I've knitted thats not socks, a scarf or a bag. The problem I had with it was the bottom wasn't very straight, the sides hung down if you know what I mean?

Has anybody got any tips? The pattern also has cable going up the back which I don't have a problem with, I actually like cables!

Jules,

Hope you don't mind but I raised this query directly with Colinette. Here is the response. Hope it helps. Jill

......I've had a look at the pattern in Knit Today and the back of the
Giotto waistcoat is supposed to be shaped, the sides are supposed to
hang down. There is a picture of the back on page 45 showing the
shaping, if she wants it straight across she could miss out the
increasing and decreasing all the way up.........

Thank you Jill! I didn't think I was going to get a reply!

I don't mind if its going to be like that, but as its the first garment I've knitted I wanted to make sure i've got it right! I might start it again this weekend now.

Jill, you're a star! Next time we come and see you I'll fetch it for you..... if I've done it!
