Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get some reclaimed floor boards from in sheffield? Just taken up my carpet and fancy having a go sanding/varnishing my hallway. Problem is a few boards are damaged and need replacing.

Also, any other advice on filling holes / gaps would be appreciated!!

Brown or black silicone is good for gaps of less than 1cm - as long as you clean it off the face of the boards before it dries. It's flexible, so it won't drop out. Holes - depends on size, use small bits of board if possible, if small then plastic wood, or can also bung them up with silicone.

There's a reclaimed timber bloke in Swinton, Rotherham. Can't remember name - check yellow pages under timber. Maybe one in Sheffield too. Gresham's is a good proper timber merchant with helpful staff - you could ask them. They're on Chesterfield Rd nextdoor to Lavers.
