So, a legal claim has been filed to retrieve royalties for the children who sung the chorus to Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall.
According to the link the school received a donation but the children received no payment.
Do you think they should be entitled to recoup some money after all this time?

No, I don't think so. A generous session fee was paid at the time (the donation to the school) which was agreed by all to be more than fair.
It's not like Floyd were an unknown band at the time who went on to become huge. They were already hugely successful, so the school can't use that as an excuse to get more money.

Well, the law says differently mojo.
Why should the people who were involved not be entitled to their royalties just because they were ignorant of their rights at the time?

What law would that be Yoda? The law of greedy chancers, perhaps?
They were paid an agreed session fee at the time and have apparently been happy with that for over 20 years. I suspect someone has had a quiet word in their ears about all that lovely money they're missing out on.
Anyway, you'll note that the claim is not against Floyd or EMI at all, but against the PRS for air play, which is a different thing altogether.

The regulations surrounding royalties are quite well established. If you found out that you were entitled to some royalties would you be interested in persuing a claim?
How do you know they were happy with that at the time? The school got some money, the kids involved didn't.
