View Full Version : YOUR moment of fame!
Whats been your 15 minutes of fame? I remember being on Telethon years ago at Concord Sports Centre when all the hot air balloons were taking off at once! I was pulling faces at the camera behind the reporter!! :hihi:
Other than a few charity pics and radio interviews my only famous moments have been out with my friends! whether it's spewing on myself or getting laughed off the stage with my dancing skills!!:gag: :hihi:
StarSparkle 30-11-2004, 17:28 As a small child I featured in a newspaper advert for children's shoes, for a well-known Edinburgh department store. There was a black & white photo of me (aged 3 I think), with my Mum and a sales lady staring in rapture at my feet, with my new pair of shoes on. I was more interested in the large teddy I was hugging!
Any other parents would surely have got me signed up with a child model agency - did mine? Did they heck!
That was my shot at the big-time blown!
Damn, damn, damn .........
StarSparkle :(
I was in the paper, when I was about 6 years old, protesting against Grenoside Library being torn down (this was when I lived in Grenoside)
I was interviewed by TV news and was told the interview would go out that evening.
Unfortunately John Major, PM at the time, chose that day to make a surprise visit to Yorkshire. Guess who got booted.....and it wasn't the Grey Man...:)
I also was interviewed by the Sheffield Star on a political story....the day that Operation Desert Storm in the first Iraq War started. I did get in the Star, though.
I was also the guy whose film script was getting some good coverage in Hollywood in Septamber 2001. It was all about a terrorist attack on New York. After September 11 it got shelved....
On a better note I've done a few stints on local radio, reviewing the newspapers and had a couple of books published.
Onwards and upwards!
Joe :)

Plain Talker 01-12-2004, 08:18 I was on Calendar news, and in the Telegraph and Star about a month ago, because the disability charity I work for had a wedding, between a service user, and a volunteer
I was interviewed on camera saying how lovely the wedding was, and how pleased I was at how things had come together. (i was the culprit, you see, who conspired with workmates to create the surprise, so they wanted quotes from me, too)
What we had done, was this..
The Bride has a disability, and borrows Scootas from us, to get out and about.
Her intention was that she should "wheel" down the aisle, in a disability scoota.
So I, and some work colleagues "set-to", and decorated the scoota for her special day, with ribbons, and flowers, and signs...
Bless her, she was thrilled with the decorated "chariot". it looked spectacular.
We had Piccies, and an article in the local papers and we featured on the local news.
It was nice to celebrate the bride and groom's big day with them, and it was great that we could come together, and "plot" to do the decrated scoota, to make their big day even more special. that was a privilege.

FairyNormal 01-12-2004, 09:27 Here's mine!!
Aged about 12, I was in an advert for Click photoshops. I had to stand and stare open mouthed as Mr Speedy photoman came zooming past on rollerskates!! I was wearing a hideous multi-coloured anorak at the time lol!
I was involved in the clearance of Kelvin Flats as the chair of the tennants group and was on TV and in the paper quiet a lot at that time. At the time, myself and two friends self published a small book of poetry we had written about the flats. We were minor celebraties for a few weeks. We sold every copy and they even have it in the Library's Local History section! This then lead to me reading some of my poetry on Womens Hour on Radio 4. I also took part in several programmes about housing issues and things to do with single parents.
I took part in the BBC's Millenuim Archives too. These were a series of interviews with ordinary people about their day to day lives in the last centuary. As a result of this, myself and my then toddler son, were on the front page of the BBC's Aeriel Magazine. Kate Adie also featured onthe front page. We had a huge pic and she only had a small one in the top corner!!!
Oh and I was once on Calendar news when, during the miners strike, I was bunking of school during PE and walked right in front of the camera in town!! Thankfully, my mum never saw it lol!!
I skipped my GCSE maths exam to go watch Newcastle beat Grimsby on a Wednesday night and secure promotion to the premiership.
"how did the exam go?" asked my Mam
"oh, not too bad" I replied.
*whack across the head* "you lying little ****, you were on look north running across the pitch at Grimsby"
Damn those tv cameras.
PaulTansley 01-12-2004, 12:34 In September 1999 I was on the front page of the star due to being stopped by the police for speeding on my bicycle.
The nationals got hold of it and it was splashed there to.
The star took half the front page with it.
It was all over the radio and I tuned into Jimmy Young on radio 2 and he was debating it as I listened, really weird, and then Look North rang me to film and interview me but I declined.
I went on a training run to Lincoln only to arrive home about 3pm with a film crew in my living room.
It was Calender so seeing that they were there I had an interview and they filmed me on the bike.
It came on the next day.
Very Embarrassing, but loved it really.

My 15 minutes of fame came when I was an extra in the Legally Blonde sequel! It was filmed in the city that i'm living in at the moment! I almost fainted when I saw Reese Witherspoon. I got recognized for it on the local news, and it made me feel like a movie star!
By the way, LESTAT, love the name! Are you a fan of Anne Rice novels???

nah....just an over excited youth...I actually fell over in the centre circle and got trampled on by the few hundred people behind me
ouch.
I was on the front page of the Leicester Mercury. I have also appeared twice on local television.
I will be at the Hinckley Utd v. Brentford game on Sunday. It's on Match of the Day live on BBC 1, and with a capacity of only 2000 odd, there's a pretty good chance I could be spotted in the crowd somewhere, so keep your eyes peeled. I'll try and stand near to the pitch if it's not too crowded.
My moment of fame was going out on a couple of occassions with the drummer from Showaddywaddy
Hey rock 'n roll
And i went to the same school as Sean Bean
tigress04 03-12-2004, 13:29 I never had my 15 minutes of fame yet! But the closest I came was when I almost wrecked my car while trying to look @ Kate Beckinsale! I think that was in a newspaper somewhere though! Who knows!!! My life isn't as exciting as I want it to be!
