On the 1881 UK Census there is an entry for a John Joseph Siddall, age 42, profession engraver, living at 291 Beet Street, Sheffield.

Full details can be found at: http://www.familysearch.org

Hope this is of some help.

There was a Dennis Siddall lived on Parson Cross in the seventies and eighties. Moved there from Walkley/Crookes. Had a large family (7 or 8 kids). Eldest would be Steven (current age 50 or 51) then there was Denise, David, Caroline and a few more. Some of the kids had ginger hair. Lovely family - Steven was a good friend of mine. If it rings any bells I can try and give you a few more details.

Steven and I are the same age. I too lived on Wordsworth. We were part of a large group of kids growing up on the Cross at that time. Me (Bushy), your dad, (Tack), Deso (Tack's cousin), Bungi, Wriggo, and the famous Jinx.
The late nineteen sixties was a good time to be a young teenager, as we had just moved into a new era of affluence, which started in the early sixties (with The Beatles I guess) and continued throughout.
By affluence, that doesn't mean we had money to spare. It simply means that we had shoes, food etc. Many of our older brothers and sisters had gone without in the fifties. [First up in the morning would get a pair of socks, 2nd would get odd socks, third none at all, that kind of thing]
I know it's a cliche to say things were good back then, but they really were.
Your dad was the king of the "throwing arrow". Ask him about it. But whatever you do, don't mention Anne and Jaqueline !!!

I do not know any of the Siddalls on your list but I do remember two members of a Siddall family who worked in the Chemistry Dept on Adsetts St which was part of the English Steel Corporation many years ago.

Allan Siddall was a metallurgist Chemist and his mother Alice was a widow who worked as an assistant in the large steel analysis laboratory there.

Then of course there is the famous Keith Siddall, once of Knutton Crescent, Parson Cross, who went down in history as the inventor of the Titanic Chuck when he was at Mushet.

He became a jehova's witness, but not sure what happened to him in later years

I was a nipper at the time, so that's all I can remember...

There was a boy in my primary school class called Siddall. I am sure his first name was George but I could not swear to it.

Only reason I remeber him was that even at that young age he was very good with his hands - he once built a model ship out of wood and got to show it to the rest of the class or school - oh, and the other reason I remember him was that he wore corduroy shorts (strange how some things stick in your mind)

it was Netherthorpe Primary 1958 - 1960 (then I moved)

Hi there

I have some Siddall connections -

My mother's cousin was Jack Siddall, Town Clerk of Brighton many years ago - later migrated to Tasmania. I I can find out who his mother was if this is the right stream??

(there are still some relatives in Tasmania although Jack died a few years ago)
