And here's da info on da Notts fellas...
Red Rack ‘Em burst onto the scene in October 2004 with his remake of 'I'm Not Feeling You' by Yvette Michelle "The best remake in recent memory" said Fat City! There have been 5 chapters of The Smugglers Inn series so far, winning several more ‘Record of the Week’s at Piccadilly and Fat City in the process. Fans include Swag, the Unabombers, Nextmen, Kid Sublime, Yam Who and Diesler.
Sister label Rack 'Em Up, dedicated to Disco re-edits, has also earned DJ support from the Idjut Boys, Jazztronik, Rune Lindbaek, Unabombers… even Carl Craig!!!
Now based in Nottingham, Rack 'Em has over 12 years DJ experience flying the flag for genuine eclecticism in his sets: Hip Hop at Native in Bristol, up-front broken beat at Best Kept Secret in London, warm up sets at international festivals and gigs in Sarajevo, Lisbon and Budapest. Expect Broken Beat, Disco, Hip Hop, Dub Step and more!!!
2007 has already been a busy year… Forthcoming Eps on Society and Bear Funk records, a Dubstep remix for Tubbs on Exceptional with Dallas from Fat Freddy’s Drop on vocals, remixes for Ed Spacek’s Earlyman project and the forthcoming dubstep project D-Nile. It’s literally all go on the high seas!
We asked a panel of experts for their verdict on the Rack Man’s releases, and here’s the feedback:
"Genius" - Dom Servini, Straight No Chaser.
"The Captain" - Yam Who, Uptown Safari.
"No wonder the likes of the Idjut Boys and the Unabombers are fans" - Fat City Records
Good enough? OK, and you can hear some Red Rack'em mixes here:

We are well looking forward to Red’s Society debut, not to mention his forthcoming 4-track EP on Society Recs which is the BOMB!
Nick Shaw - Basement Boogaloo, Nottingham:
Started in May 2004 by Nick and co-founder Ed Cotton as a 'natural reaction' to fill a gap in the Notts club scene, Basement Boogaloo has evolved into one of the best nights of its type, north of Watford.
'We have been very fortunate to have one of the best crowds that I have ever been in the company of; Chris Duckenfield described BB as the mini-Electric Chair and Greg Wilson described his gig as the best party he has played this year and last.'
It's all true, people. Past Boogaloo guests have included Maurice Fulton, Daniele Baldelli, Chris Duckenfield, the Unabombers, Maddslinky, James Holroyd & Rob Bright, Greg Wilson, Jon K, Mudd and Ame, along with local talent such as Beane, Fran Green and Red Rack'em.
Oh, and me, Solid State. I have played there AND visited as a punter - and had a fantastic time, every time! Last time Nick played at Society he really impressed me with his selections. However, he’s a modest kinda guy and prefers to push Basement Boogaloo rather his own DJ skills. So you’ll have to take it from me - the BB success story is definitely NOT all down to their fabulous choice of guests... Nick and partner Ed Cotton are without doubt the lynchpins without whom... you know the rest.
It’s great to have him back.
