My favourite photo is my shot of the statue of Pan, Spirit of the Woods in the Botancial gardens - see here (http://www.rfstock.co.uk/Galleries/Galleries/Sheffield.html) - the Bronze version is my fave :)

In second place is the needles eye at wentworth with Sun peeking from behind it (second pic in this gallery (http://www.rfstock.co.uk/Walks/Walks/Elsecar%20and%20Wentworth.html)) and in third place is the Blue Water (http://www.rfstock.co.uk) on the fountain at the train station on front page of my site

There still seems to be a lot of enthusiasm for photography on the forum. I can't understand why the proposed phtotgraphy group never took off. Are there technical issues with people posting there pics to the site, or something?. What better way to show the world where we live!!?.

Sorry about that, as most roses have female names.
You said the photo was taken near Rother Valley, so Valerie would be more appropriate. :D

Hi Alex

Your Inbox is full, so I cannot reply via PM but thanks for your comments on my photos. No, I don't live on Netherfield Road but fairly close by.

Are you a climber? There must be some dramatic shots from the rocks to be taken!

Cheers,
Pete

I don't live in Sheffield anymore, but if I did I would be taking stacks of photographs of the city and putting them on this website - www.geograph.org.uk

In 2 years I've managed to post over 3,300 photographs onto the site and and boosted the photographs of the centre of Lincoln by 211. There are now over 800 photographs of that grid square, by 43 contributors.

The Geograph British Isles project aims to collect geographically representative photographs and information for every square kilometre of Great Britain and Ireland. Most of the grid squares around Sheffield have been covered, but why not boost them with contributions of your own, it's a great way to get out and about.

My contributions are: -

Mmm - the Ringinglow sunset pic looks great, tho a bit more differentiation in the layers of ridges in the landscape would make it better. I know how hard that is tho - I spent a week in Italy chasing the same sort of effect. (Didn't go just for that mind - it was just outside where we were staying!) It would be worth going back there.

Whether you think it's an improvement or not, is your choice.

Personally, I'm just glad to see someone posting on here. I think mickyhix and Eric_Collins should join Geograph.org.uk and post their photographs on there. Come on you two and show them what Sheffield is all about.

I think it's an improvement - more shadow detail is always good and the sheep in the foreground are lit by the sun and just give a bit of life to what was otherwise a bit featureless . Nice one!

As I said I would, I'm tidying up this thread.

Rather than delete pictures that no longer work or require intervention to view them, I have put some instructions in the edit facilty, then the OP of the picture can change their links if they want. If the posts aren't corrected in a week or so, I might as well delete them. If I've edited your post, feel free to change it again to you own needs. :)

Edit: I haven't changed any posts that have been quoted, I'll tidy them up later.

For details on how to correct links for your images to appear directly on the site, CLICK HERE.. (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=359065)
