perpetually...or thats how it seems. Seriously, they arent like dogs, and some will call on and off throughout the year for days and nights at a time.

I think they are able to conceive at any time because their system is kick started by mating... or something like that...

lily seems to cry for 5 days, be quiet for 5 days and then the same again. She is back doing it again now! Im going to have her spayed soon.

Queens are usually in season 2 or 3 times a year, it can be more depending on other cats in the area. :)

if its only 2 or 3 times a year why would she be crying for 5 days on and 5 days off?

I'm sure the vet said that they ovulate when mated so they can conceive whenever...

Without toms being about queens are usually in season for about 5 days every 3 weeks (so that's approximately 5 days on, 16 days off) but some queens are more frequent than that.

In addition to that, the interest of a tom can make a queen ovulate out of pattern.

Seriously, try to plot a time when Lily isn't likely to be in season and go for it TattyBear!

wuduswitch- I don't think that you're thinking of cats when you say twice or three times a year. Two or three litters a year, possibly- but that allows for all the other time that they're pregnant and so not in season.
