Does anyone know of any groups/ organisations for adults that get together and sing - and maybe put on a show or two a year.

I am based in Sheffield Six, but can travel to most areas of the City.

I would be a complete beginner, but would just be interested in exploring any such groups and the opportunities it may give me if i turn out to be any good at singing!

Hey

I've also been looking for some kind of 'choir' (but not in a churchy sense).

I found the Sheffield Socialist Choir, but I haven't contacted them yet. You can google them yourself and call them.

Thats all so far but I think there are more, both informal and formal.

Good luck
James

Hi

I'm a member of Hallmark of Harmony, a Sheffield male chorus. I joined after attending a singing course with them last year. As it happens, this years' course starts next week.

Here are the details:

Learn to Sing in Harmony
a free 8 week course for male voices

Aimed at both the total novice and the singer who wants to improve their existing voice, this course is designed to teach the basic requirements of good vocal production.

Following the successful plan of the previous two courses, the student will learn the fundamentals of breathing, voice production and good tuning. To help the students put these elements in to practise, they will learn a small number of songs in four part harmony.

The course runs for 8 weeks, starting at 7:30pm on Tuesday 23rd October 2007 at:
Holt House Infant School
Bannerdale Road
Sheffield
S7 2EW

And it's ABSOLUTELY FREE!!

For further details and enrolment, please call us on 0114 2696979 or 0114 2695763.

The singing course is still open for late entries this Tuesday at 7:30pm.
Due to works at the school, this weeks course will be held at Laycocks club on Archer road.

Thanks
