Forming Dangerous, one of our close friends and someone that many clubbers in the UK will recognise in their costumes for storming events on stilts, with fire blazing and angle grinding spectacles…
Our friend Peter Thornett is a Performance Artist by trade, working in film, TV and stage and is also an epileptic – like his father. Over the years Epilepsy Action has helped them both, and now Peter wants to return their help.
Most people are unaware that epilepsy affects 1 in 131 people in the UK.
His main aim is to raise awareness of the condition of Epilepsy and two related charities:
Epilepsy Action http://www.epilepsy.org/ &
F.A.B.L.E http://www.fable.org.uk/
Peter set off from John O’Groats on 19th May 2007 and intends to walk the whole distance to Lands End on stilts by the 27th August…or there abouts…
Instead of taking the quick route, Peter will be zig-zagging across the country to include as many events as possible along the way, giving impromptu performances & dressed in costume – to generate interest and to educate people about epilepsy. He will be stiltwalking at least 1,200 miles – possibly 2,000!
If you are interested to learn more about Peter’s incredible stilt walk from John O’Groats to Lands End, or wish to give him support of any kind, please visit his official Stilt Walking journey website http://www.dangerous-stiltwalkers.co.uk/charity.htm
Here's a link from the John 'O Groats Journal http://www.johnogroat-journal.co.uk/..._his_step.html
Support is always appreciated from spreading the word to joining in on part of his journey or even a monetary donation, which can be done here: http://www.justgiving.com/peterthornett
Wishing him all the best and we’ll keep you updated you on his antics… if ya see him give him a beep or a wave!

platts 29-06-2007, 02:09 PM Is Club Shhh open as normal too then?
Ged303 29-06-2007, 04:59 PM Yes it is.
Fil bray 29-06-2007, 07:36 PM Sorry but the police and fire brigade have just visited the club and stopped this event  , not because of the club itself but due to the chances of the river Don flooding again, because of the rain forecast to fall over the weekend.
The club have done us proud in getting ready for our event and all the cleaning had been done ready to reopen. This situation is totally out of our control and theirs.:(
We are really sorry for the inconvenience. If you would still like to make a donation to Starlight you can text the word STAR to 88821. It will cost £1.50 and 90p goes to Starlight. Starlight help terminally ill children to fulfill a final wish such as meeting a celebrity or going to Disneyland etc.
We have rescheduled this event for the august bank holiday.
Sorry once again and we hope to see you out and about over summer and then for the next Noggins August bank holiday.
Fil and John
Smithster 29-06-2007, 08:28 PM BOOOOOooooooo to the police. Is it really any more likely that it will flood again overnight tonight than any other night of the year? I think not. Just being over-cautious here methinks. No fair!
