Following on from the first album thread I got thinking this is a suitable friday afternoon follow up.

Its not intended as a rip the **** thread, but I'm certain it may get that way. So here goes.

The worst and most boring album I ever parted with cash for is without doubt the one that contained the track Northern Lights by Renaissance. As soon as the squeeze that talked me into buying it was history so was the record.

See, thats what makes a good forum, we are all very different people....Reload is one of my favourite albums, especially Unforgiven 2. Not so fussed about St Anger.

I have two for the list: Lily Allen ....whatever it was called...and Introduction to the Hard Line by Terence Trent Darby. What was I thinking of....still took them back after one listen (one listen was enough).

The La's - The La's

The lesson being, don't buy an album on the back of an NME review.

That'll be A Song for all Seasons, and if you ask me it's a pretty excellent album all round. It was only after that one that Renaissance started to go seriously downhill (though even then I wouldn't go so far as to say they were crap).

Not music, but The second Derek and Clive Live album - the one with the 'vomit bag' cover - it peeed me off so much with Peter Cookes utterances of 'kicking her in the c**t'

I put it in the bin - I couldn't stand the thought of recirculating it via charity shop.

Peter Cook and Dudley Moore hit a low spot with this one.

I've got a sneeky feeling I might 'win' this one:

Battle Hymns For Children Singing by Haysi Fantayzee.

(It got to 53 in the album chart February '83.)

My defence is that as a 13 year old lad going through 'the change' I bought it to gawp at the semi-naked form of 'singer' Kate Garner on the colourful album sleeve and in the booklet contained therein.

(Might have to dig it out tonight; cracking album, no, really.....,**snigger**.)

What a fine swap indeed. Run DMC & Aerosmith was an ok collaboration, but the 'Thrax/P.E. effort blew it out of the water as far as crossovers go.

Though I have LOTS of '50p from the charity shop' easy listening classics (you know, tijuana, hammond organ, Tony Christie wannabes, that kinda thing) that other people would weep to hear, whereas I enjoy in all their cheesy glory. Mostly, to annoy other people, I must admit. :D

Too many to mention, but "Wild Cat" by the Tygers of Ping Pong takes some beating.

The first track "Euthanasia"; the first track on the first side of your first album, the track to grab people with, is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

It sets the tone well.

"Euthanasia, ...... 1, 2, 3, 4 ......... Euthanasia .......... OK"

Shocking.

Even the front cover was terrible.

"Abominog" by Uriah Heep is shocking (sorry Jabber, but it is), "God Fodder" by Ned's Atomic Dustbin would have been better titled "Cannon Fodder, Please", and there was no need at all for "Twin Barrels Burning" by Wishbone Ash.

And that's from a huge Heep and Ash fan too ........
