I know there's a couple of Turkish restaurants on London Road - which is the good one?

I've eaten at Zeugma and think it's really good, been loads of times and never had a bad meal. Others give Marmaris good reviews aswell, but I can't comment as I've not been.
It sounds like the food is very similar in both though, and I think the only difference is that Zeugma is more of a cafe/informal eating place, and Marmaris is a bit more formal - well it has tablecloths and wine glasses anyway!
Zeugma always seems busy and has a good atmosphere, but I've never seen that many people is Marmaris, so that may speak for itself.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it, whichever one you choose!

Both are lovely. Think I slightly prefer Zeugma's for the starters. But the staff at Marmaris are delightful.

Both are good, but I've found Zeugma getting a little complacent.
Marmaris did me a fantastic treat for my birthday and is improving all the time, plus the tables aren't all squashed to gether like Zeugma so with Marmaris you can enjoy your meal without fear of knocking someone on another table

Is Zeugma not opening a new bigger restaurant though??? So the cramped situation should be sorted once that opens.

Supposed to be being the word......he's having problems with the council, the last I heard. I know the owner very well, unfortunately

Anybody got updates on these restaurants? Are there any others in Sheffield serving good, relatively authentic Turkish food?

For me the best Turkish restaurant is Lokanta in Broomhill

I went to Lokanta recently and it was very enjoyable. We had their 6 meze for £26 which was plenty of food for 2. My favourite is still Zeugma but Lokanta is still worth a go.

The one next to the West Street tram stop was really good when we went recently. Still haven't found anything to beat Rowsha in Walkley for middle eastern type food though :-)

Zeugma on London Rd is great and been going there since about 2001 I think.
Good food and they will alter anything to suite your preferences (I LIKE LOADS!) lol
Hmm I see 2 down sides, firstly if there's quite a few of you they get a bit confused. We once visited as a party of 9 and 3 of us didn't even receive our main meals, very bad.
Secondly they've installed a large plastic protection sheet over the BBQ area, which means as the coals sizzle and spit you don't get the backs of your hands and neck fried. I enjoyed getting ember sizzle :D must be something wrong with me.
I also enjoy the dryness of the waiter, seems he never wants to be there, dry, kinda like your typical Turk so all is good hehe.
We prefer to just go as a couple, mid afternoon when it's quiet. Yesterday we went to see HangoverII and finished it off with Zeugma which had 1 other table occupied when we arrived. We left to see people queuing at the door an hour later! Coolio.

Are you sure your waiter was Turkish? Zeugma staff aren't all Turks.

All Turks are 'dry' - how many Turks do you know ... LOL ...?

The ones in our back yard are very wet at the moment .. partly through lager and partly due to the fact they are having a bbq under the gazebo in the pouring rain .... I call that crazy not dry! :loopy:
