Ho hum. Still waiting.

Meanwhile, he's a taster of what we can expect:

A comparison (http://www.cornbread.org/FOTRCompare/index.html)

The Rivendell frame grab looks incredible, you could almost walk into it.

The missus just wants to see Viggo in HD.

Even in HD-DVD LOTR would still be one of THE most overrated movie franchises ever made IMO.

Constructive as ever Rich, supprised you did not manage to get the words Sony and Zealot in there!!

I agree the HD frames are better but it would be easier to compare if they were the same frames...

In which case.......

IGNORE THE THREAD

I value my time too much to go opening up a Footballers' Wives thread, let alone to post on there that I didn't like it. Frankly, no-one would care that I didn't like it.

No fear of that while the Super Mario franchise exists.

They are obviously better, all I am saying is it would be a better comparison if the same frame was compared.
:)

Also don't try showing HD to your mates when they're drunk...it doesn't work, I've tried ;)

Quite impressed with the map detail, I wonder if it will make it easier to decipher what was written on documents they created, such as Bilbo's journal. Yes, I have actually watched it on freeze frame to do this ;)

The Balrog looks better, even if does have wings. Can HD remove the wings? ;)

Ooo, bit o' controversy there. I'm in the other camp, Mathom. The wings were a good call.

Tch. The wings in the book were only metaphorical wings. If the Balrog had real wings then he'd (she'd?) have been able to fly up again when Gandalf smote the Bridge. Even if they were merely vestigial wings it would have been able to stay its fall and merely glide into the chasm.

Errrr...

:help:

So yeah, HD looks a bit better does it? Cool. Thing that gets me is I've only just upgraded most of my film collection to DVD. So how long is HD expected to last?

I mean, two years down the line, Jackson will expect us to fork out for another box-set: 'HD with bonus mushroom-frying scene and extra orcses'.

No, no, no, no, no.

When was the last time you saw a chicken glide, eh? Answer me that.

It would've at least unfolded those wings and had a good go at stopping its fall - not unless they were rubbish wee wings with about a one foot span. But no! It just falls uselessly:

With a terrible cry the Balrog fell forward, and its shadow plunged down and vanished.
