As promised in the RNB/HIP HOP thread, I have been checking my playlists and in a folder I have as "chilled" music I have the following tracks.

Truman sleeps - Truman Show soundtrack (the part where he is asleep and Christof (Ed Harris) is watching him on the screen.

Clubbed to death - Rob Dougan (The matrix sound tracks from the "girl in the red dress" training platform scene)

Gun Fight Music - Propellerheads (The lobby shootup scene from Matrix)

Need some sleep - The Eels (Ashamed to say, from Shrek 2)

American Beauty - Thomas Newman (Simply brilliant and named after the film)

Hands of time - Groove Armada (Collateral soundtrack, played in the part where he (Foxx) taxis Jade Pinkett-Smith's character.

In addition to that I have a few tracks I copied from my directory for Oblivion: Elder Scrolls because again the music is genius and one of the many reason behind the games success.

So, what songs/peices from films/games you love to listen to?

Games wise - the music from Chun Li's level on Street Fighter 2 does it for me.. Then again I used to fancy Chun Li herself when I was 16, especially when I saw her bending over in SF2 Turbo on the SNES for her fireball move

The music from 'Chaos Engine' on the Amiga. What rave would have sounded like in the mid 19th century!

Eighties game music was hypnotic. Manic miner springs to mind and then all the early nineties SNES stuff of the Mario Brothers. Dr Mario also used to snare me in and i'd find myself humming it.

5. Twist - Symposium
6. Neighborhood - Space

9. Body Medusa (Leftfield Mix) - Supereal
10. Friends - The Wannadies
11. Bluetonic - The Bluetones

13. In Charge - Dubstar
14. To Be The One - Passion Star

I got in to game music through the Commodore 64, I listen to a lot of old remixed 64 stuff here (http://remix.kwed.org/). Anyone remember this (http://remix.kwed.org/files/RKOfiles/Instant%20Remedy%20-%20Ocean%20Loader.mp3) famous loading tune?

My favourite music from a 16 bit console has to be the Streets of Rage soundtracks, Yuzo Koshiro is a god in my house.

My favourite machine when it comes to computer game music has to be the Commodore Amiga, that baby had some great tunes, my current musical hobby is still based around some of the old Amiga mods, hence the username.

I'm not sure if he was the first to win an award for game music but he was a ground breaker, there were a few great composers out before him on other machines, especially on the C64.

Machinae supremacy are pretty good.

The Lotus games on Amiga all had great intro music.

In terms of movie music Hans Zimmer is a genious.

classic games music such as 'Into The Wonderful' from Gods, or the theme from Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe....not forgetting Megablast by Bomb Da Bass (used to excellent effect in Xenon 2). Great music, and no coincidence that the Bitmaps were the game makers - they had a great taste when it came to recruiting for soundtrack.

Also, games wise, love the Final Fantasy series of games for the music. I have the Soundtrack mod for World of Warcraft and have slotted in various chunks of the soundtracks to 7, 8, 9 and 10 into the game. you can't beat the wonderful feeling when you finish an epic fight and the 'fanfare' sounds!

One of the best features of the Dizzy games in the late 80s/early 90s was the in game music IMO, OK it was cheesy but it was also classic.

Agreed! Love most of the final fantasy music. So emotive, and really takes me back when I listen to it, especially the stuff from VII :D

That is my favourite ending music to any game ever. I have several great remixes too.

There's quite a few people making "Nintendocore" music.

In particular I like Printed Circuit.

Final Fantasy 2 on the old Gameboy had excellent music IMO, very soothing and could put you to sleep easily I reckon.

Yep Final Fantasy is thirded (or is it fourthed?) all the soundtracks from VII onwards have been smashing. I'd really like to see one of the FF concerts they occaisonally stage in the US & Japan.

Yeah, the soundtrack on FF 7 was good, just a shame the actual game itself sucked (IMO).

The music on Fahrenheit (its by Badalamenti) is astounding.

Favourite film soundtracks are North By Northwest, Vertigo and Psycho. The way Hitchcock merges Hermann's music with Saul Bass's graphic's makes me all woozy.
