The cult Japanese TV show Monkey is returning to UK terrestrial TV this week, Friday nights (early hours of Saturday mornings) on Channel 4.

Monkey episode 14 will be shown on Channel 4 on Friday 8 August 2003 night, after midnight, at 01:40am - 02:30am (i.e. early hours of Saturday 9 August 2003)

When I was a kid I used to love it. Not sure It be the same anymore.

Is this the Monkey Monkey Magic programme with the flying carpet and all that?

Are they reruns or a new series ?

Well, I presume it is Monkey Magic...that's what I based my reply on anyway. :)

I think you mean the flying cloud don't you? if I remember correctly he used to wave his fingers in front of his mouth and summon the cloud. I would have thought they are re-runs.

It toured globally, but I saw it at the Palace theatre in Manchester about 18 months ago.

Fantastic acrobatics, music by Damon Albarn and a good rendition of the story. Don't know if it'll run again.

Both TV and stage shows are based on a well known (and epic) Chinese legend.

I have to say, 'cos I'm so proud of it, I've just sourced some limited edition vinyl statues based on Monkey.
