View Full Version : Meatloaf At The Arena
I am sorry to say I think the man has lost it. His best mate needs to tell him it's time to call it a day. One of my all time musical heroes was pretty rough last night it was very disappointing. people were leaving half way through.
foxydebs 28-05-2007, 11:48 I was there n i loved it, trying 2 get tickets for tuesday nite too, i didnt see any1 leaving halfway thru, everytime there is a meat loaf concert people always say that n i have been 2 c him live loads of times n not seen people leave halfway thru
ValleyBoy 28-05-2007, 14:49 I went last night and i thought he was miming to some of the songs, what did they call the singer who was on first? she was good, but i agree he is well passed it and looks horrible i could not imagine any ladees finding him attractive [ other than for his wealth].

That's why I couldn't get parked last night at the Centretainment to go and see Spiderman 3.

we're not driving down, or we would have, but if you get the 16.35 No.1 bus at the top of molenuex rd/scicey ave heading towards meadowhell it drops you outside the arena in plenty of time have a beer in the noose
ok.
his voice is not as strong as it used to be, but after 2004 when he collapsed, he was never going to be the same again?
however i see a meatloaf gig as a "show" and not a standard rock concert,
so with that in mind the "show" was fantastic, the effects were brilliant, we were quite close to the stage and could feel the heat from the flames, while he was doing out of the frying pan.
this could well be his last big tour, so take the good points from it, the man is a legend,
forget about the odd bad point, after all he is 59, and lucky to be alive.
as i said it's a show, anyone going on tuesday don't expect a normal kind of rock concert, but you can expect to be entertained.
and i hope you don't have the tallest bloke in the world bang in front of you (like i did)
nuttygirl 28-05-2007, 17:57 I was going to buy tickets, but at £35 a time, I thought 'forget it'. The price for his gig at the area last time was steep enough.
His voice and 'oomph' had gone at that gig. I didn't dare go this time for fear of shattering what little magical image I had of him.

Dont worry about it will get s1 or s2 from outside my house n get tram from meadowhall, do noose serve food, going on my own so if u see somebody looking like a billy no mates come over n say hi, think im getting tram back 2 meadowhall n then bus or a taxi afterwards

Nah, that was possibly due to the carpark being full all day as we sold out on all pirates shows from 10am!!! Man, it's been a fun weekend! :)
Still a legend but it is always hard not to make comparisions with when you have seen an artist before. A true entertainer.
foxydebs 29-05-2007, 09:18 I have seen him before about 5 or 6 times now
foxydebs 30-05-2007, 08:43 Another great nite, was on the floor area this time, was even better than sunday night and no i didnt see anyone leaving halfway thru
Yeah, was an excellent show last night, I was singing along to all the classics despite having a bad throat... Not bad that he stayed on with no breaks for a full 2 and half hours to say how poorly he's been of late.
katharine 30-05-2007, 13:38 i went to see meatloaf sunday night and i thought he was amazing and i had a really good night there, :D
katharine 30-05-2007, 13:45 ok.

i totally agree with you, not many 59 year olds with health problems would be able to do what meatloaf can, i totally enjoyed it and i was fairly near the stage, it maybe last chance to see him, but i hope not, meatloaf gives 100% everytime
2 very similar threads merged (and title changed!).

I agree with you katherine, im 25 and even i couldnt do what he does, never seen him give a bad show, saw guns n roses last year n they were good but meat was even better
KJ_VENOM 30-05-2007, 15:34 We went last night and enjoyed ourselves totally from start to end of Meat's sets were great not sure about Marion Raven's warm up routine but the big guy didn't disapoint
Well that was the 9th time I have seen him and was impressed, Iwent to both nights.
Sunday was alot better than Tuesday, the crowdseemed a little 'dead' on Tuesday - Sundays crowd were 'more up for it'
In terms of people walking out etc, I havenever once seen anyone walk out of his show halfway through, maybe on the encores to get the last train/bus/tram or to avoid the traffic.
ML voice will never be the same, but lets be honest, the guy is 60 later this year, he has had bad heath problems, come back from backrupcy, and still gives 110% in ALL his shows.
You can slate his vocals all day for me, so what if they were off at times, true fans go to see Meat Loaf perform live, nobody is note for note perfect live, and whoever said he was miming needs to get real, how the chuff can you say he was miming? What proof do you have?
I heard a bloke say, on the way out ' he was ****ing crap' so me being me I said ' well why bother coming if you think he is ****ing crap?'. Granted, he is not the performer he used to be, but neither is Rod Stewart, Neither is Stiff CLiff, neither is Mick Jagger (most boring live concert I've ever been to). Its called getting old, and Meat Loaf actually had a sore throat on both nights after just recoving from a bad taste of the man flu.
C'mon folks, its always the same when someone goes to see him......get real, if you dont like him, or just want to go and see him for his voals, because he sounded good 30 years ago when you bought Bat Out Of Hell then dont buy a ticket.
I went with the thought of ' i know his vocals wont be like they were' but hes 59 now.
My sister-in-law went with us on Saturday and she loved it.
He may be coming back in Rocktober, I shall be there.
I give the concert on Sunday a 9/10 and Tuesday a 6/10
Rock on
foxydebs 02-06-2007, 08:04 The crowd were more up 4 it sun but i thought meat was more entertaining on the tuesday, i would have said the same as u if some1 had said he was crap
