Went into a second hand shop today and there were a dozen Bowie albums on the counter ranging from £5 to £8, some of the artwork on the covers impressed me and I wonder if I should have bought some, would they have appreciated in value, I believe vinyl is quite collectable if the artist is very popular, or if the record is rare e.g. Earth Angel.

It's a difficult one to judge. Even though some of the albums may be 35 years old they did sell in millions and there are still loads around

One of Bowie's most collectable lp's is The Man Who Sold The World with the Dress cover released in 1971. David is wearing what he called a Man's dress. A few copies went on the shelves then they released it with another cover. A few years ago it was selling for a few hundred pounds.

The dress cover was the original for TMWSTW -but it didn't sell that well - Bowie wasn't that big at the time. The album was re-released a couple of years later following the success of Ziggy Stardust but with a different cover. The dress cover was never withdrawn at any time.
I've got all his stuff from Hunky Dory through to Scary Monsters on Vinyl, but don't think they're worth much - they sold by the shed load.
