:D What music from the past have you recently rediscovered? I bought Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk (£5 Virgin) I was aware of it as a teenager but hadn't realised how good it was until now. It was ahead of its time and therefore does not sound dated one bit. I went out and bought 'Laughing Stock' from warp as I couldn't find it anywhere else.

Both are transcendentally and splendidly, beautiful, intricate, ambient soundscapes unlike their previous records. lying in the sun in the country with my ipod on its become the soundtrack to my life. Too gorgeous for words.

For ambience lovers The Orbs 'Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld' has been reissued on itunes too - i'm in heaven!!!!!!!:D ;) :P :D ;) :P :)

LEAGUE UNLIMITED ORCHESTRA - LOVE AND DANCING
All the backing tracks from Human League singles from early 1980s.
Forgotten how good it was.

The Smiths. I got reminded of them as I was flicking through the music channels. Genius

Currently Gene Loves Jezebel and Depeche Mode on in the car.

Always thought they were a bit flimsy Depeche Mode, but they made some bl**dy good songs.

I remember when I was little my mum and dad trying to get me to listen to Joni Mitchell - and I just thought that was like, soooo uncool! And now I LOVE her! She's such an amazing poet and I love the open tunings she uses. I'm even thinking about buying a dulcimer so I have a go at learning some of the songs.

I've been playing a lot of the old Respond Records stuff like Tracie Young, The Questions and Big Sound Authority in the past couple of weeks since discovering them on myspace.

I'm really getting back into The The, Matt johnson has an uncanny knack of taking great tunes, odd sounds, and great lyrics, and putting them together to make something very special.
Infected is an amazing album, and 'this is the day' from soul mining is just a fantastic song. :D

I've just started playing Blizzard of Ozz & Diary of a madman.

Obviously I've heard a few of the more popular tracks often since 82/83, but I've just got hold of these again and can't stop playing them.
They still more than hold their own to this day.

Currently going through old hippy phase and listening to the early stuff by Kevin Ayers which I used to listen to a lot in the early '70's and have recently bought on CD. Some sublime stuff, especially vocal harmonies with Robert Wyatt and fine guitar from Mike Oldfield on Whatevershebringswesing.
