There always seems to be an argument about this topic, and as its getting nearer to the time I would like to get it straight. Do you put your bedding plants in last week in May or first week in June ? As Im going away the first week in June, I would like to put them in next week, but is that too early ?

This always tends to end up being down to whether there will be a frost or not. If you check the long range forecast then you probably will be ok for the last week of May (of course you are always chancing it!).

So what you got bedding wise?

Oh crikey - mine have been in for over a week and are doing great. Shows what I know about gardening, I just thought that if they outside in a garden centre and kept out overnight, they must be ready to go in the ground/tubs etc

Do you mean that they have been "hardened off" ? Think I will put mine in next week anyway.

Do you mean youve bought them from the Garden Centre but left them in their trays outside ?

My old uncle used to work for the Sheffield Parks Dept and he always used to say 'Never plant out bedding plants until after the first week in June'

Surely with all the global warming, the first week in April is now about right?

good god no! at their prices? lol

my wee fellas are now a good size and have been potted up, just not into their final places yet. I have them in individual 2inch cell trays, and will be doing my baskets and such by the w/e

I had a greenhouse in my last garden, and had already got everything planted up by now, and still hardening off. I tended to be all done and dusted by the 1st week in June...here I just don't have the facilites....yet ;)
