Do you know of any real factory shops?

Shaws is a carpet factory in Barnsley that have a proper factory shop. Real roll ends (big ones) and seconds, and good stuff too. They do fitting too. Their ad can usually be found in the property paper.

Does anybody know of any others that sell anything else?

When I was based in the little market town of Ripley I noticed that there were several factory shops nearby but they weren't publicised very well if at all. Some-one mentioned to me that there is a book out that gives details of loads of the shops in the UK. I had a quick nosy and sure enough it did seem to list all of the factories i'd found in my travels.
Derby and the surrounding area is good for pottery, lace, and lingerie

Just remembered the Denby shop in Nottingham's main shopping centre is a proper factory shop. Anybody know any more?

there's 'Marrans' AKA The Company Shop at Tankersley. Food from all manufacurers. From M&S to PG Tips.
You need a pass though.
01226 748324 is their number - see if you or your place of employment 'qualify' for a pass.
(NHS do)

My brother was telling me about a kitchen factory shop (kitchen units etc) either in or on the way to Rotherham recently.

I think you're thinking of a different place; S'bridge does have a menswear shop for big and tall, but I believe they stock branded items rather than their own creations.
