why does warnock insist on leaving sharp out of the squad, hes a brilliant player, ive seen him play a few times now. he was a couple of years younger than me at school and everyone knew he would make it pro. im not sayin he should be given a start but why doesnt warnock play him for the last half out or something. i believe he is just what this team needs, he has the speed, the pace and the skill to make it big, but wont have the confidence while hes left out

UP THE BLADES!!!!

Well he went to my mates school, and apparrently nobody knew he was any good at school.

In the few times ive seen him play, he has done absolutely nothing! yes he has some pace, but whats point in having it if you are not using it effectively!!

I dont believe he is ready for the first team yet, we have a wealth of attacking options anyways!!

Agree there. I'm suprised that Warnock hasn't loaned him out to Scarborough or somewhere like that as he does to give him some first team games.

Im sorry to say it but i think he is too small, has ben banging them in for the reserves tho, he is only young, he will have to bide his time.

how is he going to use his pace effectively if he never gets chance? he is a class player and deserves his chance. dont know who you know at ecclesfield but they must have been a geek, everyone knew him!!!

inside info is that billy knows he is good enough for the first team, and is fed up of waiting for his chance. he is seriously thinking about leaving, is that really what we want?
for the sake of the odd ten minutes here and there i think hes worth keeping,
now do you agree uts time to play them? other people do, look at rooney!!!!!!

your comparing sharp and rooney?? oh dear!!

i know lets just go pick somebody up off the street and let him play, if he is 16 he could have great potential!! i mean just look at rooney!!

if he is that unhapy with his lack of first team football and wants to go, who are we to stop him? let him get on with it!!

whose he going to go to? i dont see clubs queueing up to take him on loan,

im not sayin hes good cos hes young at all! where would rooney be if he hadnt been givent he chance of 1st team football? someone brought him into the 1st team and it went from there!

billy isnt going to get anywhere in the reserves either is he? just like barnes! whats the point in having a reserve goalie if when you need him you go out and sign someone different?

dont you think if he was shining in reserves (yes i know about his goal record and yes it is god, but whose to say he is playing good?) then they would put him in team?

as for barnes, it was a bit harsh going out and signinga replacement, but imagine the scenario..... barnes plays in his first game, he gets injured against the millers, we then have to struggle to get a keeper to come in, sometimes forseeing stuff is better!!

not sayin it isnt but warnock should at least have given barnes the chance first, Bennets gone straight into the first team!

We'll have to wait and see.

I believe he's a bit of a bog liner. Who knows whether this could be good. Never did Edwards any harm.

I hope he does well, as I always do for our players.

True Corker,
Hindsight is a wonderful thing,we are talking about 2years 8months ago and he was just rated as a good prospect then.

Thing is he wouldn't have got a game with us, he's played 2 years of first team football which hopefully has done him the world of good. We did offer him a contract before he left but he wanted to play every week which you can't blame him for really.

Now he's back home I just hope he can make the step up, he definitely knows where the net is :)

what a clanger that was . i know hes back with you now but but letting sharp go as a kid could have saved you a few quid despite if you can afford it or not

The situations were slightly different but we should have done all we could to keep him or put a bigger sell on claus to the contract. There was always talk about Sharp and what he could possibly become but i think that as someone has mentioned before all the first team football he got has done him the world of good only time will tell.

tbf i think laws will know him better than most and will robbo get the best outta him? if you had stayed up he would be with us now imo .but what the hell hes not and we move on . like i have said b4 somewhere laws replaced macca with sharp at scunny . so the owls fans hope he does the same here with maccas replacement.

From what i have seen from last season in particular, he seems to be a natural in or near the box and that doesn't need much coaching.

Gray is still doing well at this level at Burnley.

And also players do go off the boil.

It seems a long time since he was exploiting his true talent though, he ended up turning into a journeyman, no loyalty.

freyasdad
17-07-2007, 23:52
It is a nice notion loyalty but money has spoilt the loyalty factor corky.
It is easy for us to talk about loyalty but you only have to look how many footballers are released each year to discount nearly all players from being loyal.

Your so right i hate that part of the game now, very rare you will see a player play for his team from start to finish these days.

When Sharp was sold I was a bit miffed that he never really got the chance to play, as he was doing well for our reserves. But ultimately I don't think many Blades were that sad to see him go at the time. He's got more games under his belt than if he had stayed with us.

I often wonder about this myself. If I was a footballer, and I was offered 10 grand a week at Wendy, or £200 a week at the lane, I'm pretty sure that I would take the £200..... But then I'm 33.

If I was a young whipper snapper of 17, I think (sadly) I would take the 10 grand. :hihi::hihi: (the effort wouldn't be the same though)
