I remember a few people talking about this being their favourite book, (though cannot find the thread relating to it) i noticed it advertised on TV this morning as having been made into a programme, with some quite famous people in it.

It will be shown on BBC2 on Saturday the 27th of November at 7.35, i think though will check and post if different. Don't miss it.
