Wonder if anyone can tell me where I plug in a microphone,
My brother can talk to me over the internet, on yahoo messenger,
through my speakers, so I have bought a microphone to talk back.
But cant see where it plugs in, on the back of the tower are several
sockets it would fit into, of diffrent colours.

One of which the speaker wire is plugged in, so do I just plug it in to any.
Dont know why he just doesn't use a telephone like everybody else.:loopy:

In most cases there'll be a specific mic socket on teh soundcard.

Try and find that and plug it in there.

There should also be instructions with teh mic which detail where it goes.

If not, find teh make of the mic and Google for installation instructions.

Hope that helps.

Also you can test the mic in sound recorder in windows, which is accessed in the entertainment tab of the accessories menu in the start tab.

Thats what I like, nice easy instuctions, now how do I know its working
same kind of instructions please.

Just to add, the person who set up my computer
had plugged the green speaker into the pink socket,(Dell engineers for you)
So I had a pink connector on the microphone, so just swopped them round
No wonder I get confused

green into pink? tch
idiots
theyre colour coded for a reason lol

anyway go to start/programs/accessories/entertainment/sound recorder and fiddle in there till you can save a voice clip
also you may need to raise the volume for the mic, if you have the speaker by the clock its easier, just open that and find the mic section

I waited till Mary Poppins got the answer she wanted before I hi-jacked the thread, you say blue for line in. Is this the one I use to connect the hi-fi to the PC to copy vinyl records?

Your photos of the Herons are excellent,

line in will give you better normalisatin on the recrdings, but u'll need to set your recording utility to use line in over mic

Thanks, glad you like them. The adults have returned this year and so I'll be trying to get some better ones, if I do they will be in my album.
