They are building a new Homebase at Drakehouse and inside the building there are 2/3 massive galvanised tanks what are they for?

As suggested earleir, they will be water storage tanks for the sprinkler system....

Not been to Drakehouse for a while, where are they building the Homebase?

And how will Focus cope with competition?

Halfords etc. have moved towards the middle leaving the end units to be knocked into one big one at the end.

Focus are dying a natural but slow and painful death anyway - went in yesterday and they didn't have a single bag of sand, or cement, or hardcore, or ready - mix mortar, or post fix, or ready - mix concrete......

I will agree that they leave a lot to be desired as a DIY shop. I think til now they've survived and been busy because they're the only one in the area, so they'll have to shake their ideas up a bit when Homebase opens.

At least the queues might be a bit shorter in future though.

The water tanks are huge, I'd be amazed if that was just for a sprinkler system.

I was trying to buy a bucket yesterday. Homebase at Meadowhall retail park didn't have any. Only one bucket in the entire of Focus. By bucket I mean like a normal regular bucket. Not a mop bucket or a plaster bucket...

Homebase was bought out by Argos thought weren't they?

Correct - at least four years ago IIRC. They were owned by Sainsburys before that.

Hope the service is better than the Chesterfield Homebase - seems to be staffed wholly from the local comp on work experience there.

I disagree. I was there on Saturday and they were more than helpful in double-checking a sale item that went through at the original price at the till (yes, they revised it down).

Excellent! Fed up of going across town to get to a Homebase. Now it's going to be a nice short drive.

Anyone know when this homebase is opening?

I agree about Focus. I've been in quite a bit and it has been hit and miss. Quite messy at times too.
