Where do people recommend for storing photographs on line.
Do you normally have to pay - and what are the pro's and conns of it?
I have always been dubious about using them because it feels very much big brother would then have a total idea about me and all surrounding me - or am I being paranoid?
i use www.snapfish.co.uk
:) which is free to store them on

I've never stored photos online. I prefer to keep my photos on my harddrive and have made a hard copy on CD just in case something goes wrong with my PC. I guess one advantage of storing photos online is that other family members and can view all your photo's too whereever they may be in the world, however for me it's just as easy to send them via e-mail (once you have compressed them) or to make them a photoCD.
As for secrecy and safety, I can't really say as I haven't really experienced online photo storage.
Yes Kingmaker2 I find that is the best way, to make a hard copy on cd but some people lose the discs, so probably a online storage would be better for them.

But they could always copy the contents of the disc onto their harddrive simply by using "Copy and Paste". Or they could make
2 copies on disc and keep one where they also store their important documents I.E Passports, Insurance documents etc., and just use the other disc to use to view the photos.
I have always been dubious about using them because it feels very much big brother would then have a total idea about me and all surrounding me - or am I being paranoid?
Is your life that exciting ? Or are you rich, famous or fantastically sexy ? If not then you probably dont have much to worry about :P
Some people have said about only storing on their computer or on CD. Thats good but if you have a fire you could lose all your pics. Do you have a fire-proof safe for your backup or store a copy outside your home such as at a relatives/at work in your ped/locker ?

But Rainrescue has said he/she is paranoid so no doubt he probably would store a photo CD offsite just in case of fire!:|
I think most photo hosting sites have a setting you can use to protect your photos from non-invited guests so you have to use a password to view the pics
www.photobox.co.uk default to secure, and to share them you have to adjust the setting to 'public'. They are a site for hosting and printing photographs for sharing but not really for attaching to websites. They usually come out top for facilities such as cropping rubbish from round the edges of your pics (and not hacking heads off)
www.photobucket.com is a good site for hosting pics for your website, and if you have a careful look you can make sure the rest of your pics aren't available by backward pruning the address to a full album
As for being paranoid - I've already proved to another forumer how easy it is to internet stalk somebody, and I've managed to track a dog owner down by the same method, having contacted a neighbour from details I found from a planning application. I myself have had threatening PMs after responding to unpleasant posts, and I know one forumer nearly had their life destroyed via the internet :suspect:

I really like picasa (http://picasaweb.google.com). It integrates really well with google's picasa program. I really like some of the clever features in picasa like straightening photos and adjusting the colour/contrast (since its really easy and i cant be bothered to learn photoshop/paint shop pro!).
