When Mr Strix and I go to Scotland, we don't go without an OS map, and we manage to fit in at least two walks per trip, and we've been to the lake district with Mr Strix' parents specifically for a walking break. Mr Strix' dad has done an Austrian hut to hut walk over the period of a week with a bunch of people who have nothing in common other than a love of walking and booking with the same travel agents, and I know Mr Mr Strix' parents have done one of those Saga activity holidays where she was able to do watercolour painting whilst he trampled up hill and down dale...
so, has anybody else been on a walking holiday in one form or another?
(notice how I left out any referece to the horrid experiences of Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme? ;) )
We're debating doing a walking holiday this year, stopping at different B&Bs along the way, but I just know we'd try to take too much stuff :hihi:

I haven't done anything like that yet, but when Scoop jr is older we'd love to do St bees to Robin Hoods Bay.
have you got any suitable links for that Scoop?
(in the interest of a good readable thread ;) )

I haven't, I've just read a guide book about it. I think there may be a few websites dedicated to the route though.

Ooh, I was at St Bees the other day! Very lovely it is too.
Strix - have a look on here (http://www.coast2coast.co.uk/).
Thanks Feargal
that looks like it could be useful in future ;)
If you need any hints on local hostelries or caffs, I could probably help you there as well... it seems to be the main feature of many of my walks!
