View Full Version : O2 billing - anyone else tearing their hair out?
anyone else being sent slightly mad with o2's recent billing farse? last month... was charged for 3 months of calls (even though my subscription is monthly and gives 250 free minutes), was unable to sort it out with customer services because their "billing systems are down", i couldn't close my account unless i paid the wrong bill, i couldn't request my PAC code to transfer my number to another network unless i paid the wrong bill and oh in the meantime o2 were sending me automated answerphone messages threatening to cut me off unless i paid my wrong bill.
so, i waited it out until this month when i am given a full refund and some "loyalty reward" in the form of a 1/2 price discount for this month. fair play i supposed... then 1 day after receiving this correct bill i am cut off for not paying it and guess what... o2's "billing systems are down". again. so i am left without the use of a mobile.
i have read in the news that last months mess affected several thousand customers but i was wondering if anyone on here has been on the receiving end of this months antics?
obviously o2 have too many customers and are using a strategy to get rid of the excess... y'know all the ones who pay on time and don't go over their free minutes.
nb. i couldn't search to see if this has already been covered on here cos "o2" is only 2, rather than 3, characters long. so no verbal beatings please.
They are a complete joke I have been over charged every month for the past year. It does get sorted but means I have to ring them every month. I would change but the deal I get would cost about 5x as much anywhere else.
such hard work. i was in the states for four months this summer and only used my mobile to send the odd text - i still haven't been charged for these but was getting charged for a random call every two days. :suspect:
i told them about this (after spending half the day trying to get through) and still nothing has been resolved. i am changing my contract - if i can get through to them to cancel it. :roll eyes
Going over to Orange who do the Orange Value Promise - they will match any other networks calling plan!! i was with them before and they have much better customer service - although i'm sure some of you may disagree !!
I wish I could do the same, O2 realised after about a month that the tariff I am on , (which I started about 3 years ago) was too good and going to lose them money so they stopped doing it. I get 600 texts a month and 50 minutes calls a day for £12.50 a month.
some_boy 18-11-2004, 12:33 well my contract is from the 11th to the 10th each month.
so i try and be careful and track the mins and texts i send during this period.
i regularly get charged for calls and text outside this, they say, oh it can happen sorry!
don't get me started! I posted about O2 on this forum before! I can't be bothered to go into details again, but needless to say, I have been disgusted by the service and muck ups that have happened. I can't believe they get away with it.
Same here... 02 went straight outta the window.. The Service is dire, The network coverage is dreadful
Moved to Voda, not a problem since :)
See article here from a little while ago:

They didn't comment but had previously denied allegations of overcharging. Clearly we are all liers then.
Dont talk to me about O2 they have done nothing but do my head in...
They offer me a free phone T630 i take them up on their offer decided i didnt like it so i asked if they could send me a K700i instead... so they said what they would do is bill me for the K700i £199.99 but wouldnt be debited from my bank account as the phone will have reached them in time for the money not to be taken... Great i thought... No chance! £199.99 went from my bank account causing my account to go over drawn... anyway i called Customer services of O2 and told them the situ... The phone hadnt yet been received and apparently it takes 2 weeks to appear returned on their records the girl asked me when did i return it... told her 15-10-04 by now it's almost like 3 weeks later... I had to fax over copies of the receipt etc... Not happy at all... Without question... she told me it would take a further 14 days for the money to show back in my account by this time i was furious... She spoke to her team leader who said they could get it back into my account within 3 - 4 days... which luckily for them it was...
But may i also add that i am now stuck with a dodgy phone... I noticed within the first day of having this new phone i wasnt receiving text... as i transfered my sim to another phone and had 5 text come through... I called O2 and told them the problems that i'd been having... they looked at my account and told me that i had a block on my phone... that my bolt on's had been removed... Also days previously to this call i had received a text with a PAC code for when i required them to stop my direct debit... then a few days later i received a letter telling me their sorry to see me go... What the f*** I have no idea why that happened i'd never informed them of changing or removing my account from O2... To help me wi my text problems i was told to take my sim card out of my phone for a couple of hours... then put it back and switch on the phone... hopefully all will be cleared... Nope still wasnt working properly so i then called O2 again and told them what had been said to me by another agent...
O2 explained to me that there is a problem wi the K700i Handset and that i would need an update of software... I asked customer services where i could get this new software from... I was told the O2 shop... So i called my nearest O2 shop only to be told they have never heard of such a thing... I rang O2 back only to be speaking to someone completely different... this person asked me who i spoke to in the O2 shop as they should have been made aware of this and that they would give them a call and discuss it wi them... Well nearly 20 mins later i gave up holding and rang the O2 shop myself... I spoke to the same guy as before and asked him if he had spoken to the people from O2 as i was holding for almost 20mins... His reply wasnt what i wanted to hear... 'no'... I had been holding on for no reason... back and fourth back and fourth...
I have been told to keep hold of this K700i as apprently O2 are in talks wi Sony Ericsson about these handsets... I have since called O2 again an asked what is happening but still nothing...
Other than getting my money back i am still not happy wi the service they provide... If thats what you can call it!
PS... My phone has now started locking up :loopy:
yup they suck, one month I get charged ~£60 the next only ~£20 I don't know where I am.

exactly and then they cut you off for not paying, even though they didn't tell you when or how much etc etc :loopy:
plus - and i've heard different versions of this, but don't they charge you to call the customer service line??
AND
is it just me or for such a huge corporation don't they have the worst and slowest website in the world ??
My husband took out an o2 contract a few months ago and waited (and waited!) for his bill to come through. Needless to say it never did but they still took the money out of his account without notice which created allsorts of problems at the bank.
Thank god I read this thread. Was just about to switch from T-Mobile.

Stick with T-Mobile mate, in fact I'm half tempted to get my phone unlocked (currently on O2's pay as you go) and go back to T-Mobile.
FairyNormal 18-11-2004, 21:49 I have been with O2 online for about 18 months now and never had any problems at all. Bills are always correct and on time and my phones have alwyas worked properly.
But ........ my (now ex) partner, has had a nightmare with them over the last few weeks. He wanted to up grade his phone as his 12 month contract was up. They said he couldn't have the phone he wanted for free (siemens SX music edition) but would have to pay £199 for it. They said only certain handsets were available for free on an upgrade, although it doesn't say anything of the sort on the site. I had ugraded my handset (to an E700 )just a few month before and could choose any handset I wanted. We haggled and moaned but they wouldn't budge. In the end he cancelled his original contract and took out a brand new one so he could get the phone he wanted. What a farce!!
The phone came, no problem but didn't work properly. O2 shops refused to help as a) they'd never even seen that phone and b) they told us they are a different company and have nothing to do with the online buisness.
The phone was snet back and a replacement sent. This one didn't have the sim activated. 2 days later it was sorted but it wouldn't receive media messages. They hadn't activated it on his account. ANother 2 days and this was finally working. Then all of a sudden, the phone refused to send texts or MMS at all. O2 had no idea at all and were totally useless. They eventually agreed to send him yet another phone and fingers crossed, this one works fine. They've deducted a decent sum of money off his bill to cover phone calls to Customer (dis)services and he hopes it will all be ok this time!!
My phone's on O2 but I barely use it :P the bills always come back good
