You'll feel the greatest reward knowing you've cleaned it ....:D Paying someone to do it , is throwing money away ! D2J 14-05-2007, 10:40 I am the wife! and i dont want to do it.... :hihi: Sorry bout that, some people think I'm sexist :suspect: trophyman 14-05-2007, 10:42 Neil Warnock would do a good job. he would clean it but then probably moan about it and blame someone else when it all went wrong :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: Dark Moomin 14-05-2007, 10:49 Paying someone to do it , is throwing money away ! Surely thjats a personal choice though - there are many things we could do ourselves but often pay someone else to do. I know if I had the money to do it I would never clean my over again. Likewise, I'd probably have a cleaner and someone to do my ironing. Not cos I'm posh, or work shy for that matter, but just because that would be my choice of what to spend my money on. Back on topic I am trying to find out from someone at work who did theirs - apparently they were really good, took the whole thing appart and it was cleaned without using nasty chemical products, and it sparkled after. Will post back when I get the name.# ETA - She used Oven Clean 0114 2455577 squidge00 14-05-2007, 12:20 I have just been to Wilkinsons and bought Oven Pride which includes some bags to put your racks in. Fingers crossed, it will do a good job. Anyone else tried this before? devlin 14-05-2007, 13:00 I have just been to Wilkinsons and bought Oven Pride which includes some bags to put your racks in. Fingers crossed, it will do a good job. Anyone else tried this before? Yes and it really does work (just like it says on the box)-- the skankiest of ovens can be revived. One word of caution cover all work surfaces and floors (for drips) as this stuff marks and burns if allowed. PrincessSam 14-05-2007, 13:48 A friend of mine has a self cleaning oven, which apparently when you set it to clean, locks itself and goes to such a high temperature that when you open it it's all clean there's just a pile of dust where it's burned everything off!! I so want one of those when I have my own place! :D katkin 14-05-2007, 18:01 quick trawl of yahoo brings up 2 local oven cleaning companies for Sheffield: Oven Clean (0114) 2455 577 119 Cross House Rd Sheffield S35 8RX and Oven & Hob Cleaning Company (0114) 2453 022 26 Chambers Valley Road Sheffield S35 2YF bigwind 15-05-2007, 07:43 Does anyone know of a suitable company or person to clean ovens? When you have cleaned the oven buy an oven liner for the bottom (I can put you onto a fabulous shop that sells them, £9.99!), I haven't had to clean the bottom of the oven for 18 months, just take out the liner and rinse it in the sink. And use Roasting Bags for anything that spatters, I've cut the cleaning of our oven by about 2/3rd using these two products. ladybird9876 19-05-2007, 14:05 hi pete_jim use Roasting Bags for anything that spatters. you suggested. I have'nt been able to buy them in any shop for many months.I used to use them all the time but now have to use foil. Oven Pride is a Godsend. Used it on filthy oven racks from a student hovel. 3 racks in the bag provided with about two-thirds of the liquid.Left it in the garden overnight, and in the morning took a basin of hot soapy water out, carefully wiped the racks to remove surplus liquid, then washed them thoroughly. Brought them into the kitchen. filled the basin again and easily rubbed away any stubborn stains. Cleaning time Just 10 mins and the racks are as new, as is the oven. Cost £3.89 from any supermarket. Take great care to follow the instructions........and if possible use Oven Pride outdoors.
