I don't suppose that person's day was feeling too bright when he decided to attempt suicide. How inconsiderate!

And what about the people that care about the guy trying to kill himself. What affect does it have on them? How inconsiderate!

I understand why people state that attempted suicides are inconsiderate and they should think of other people (and i have had to help a bloke suffering with PTSD after a 'jumper' hit his car on the motorway, it effected him deeply and he ended up being admitted to the psychiatric ward) ... however people must understand that when someone is so depressed and low to attempt to end their life, they have not got the capacity to think of anyone else. Thankfully now he'll get the help he needs.

I'm sure the person who is in such a state that they contemplate suicide thinks... "Ooh I Know what I'll do, just for S's and giggles..., I'll freak the train/ car driver out, by jumping at them...!!"

*shakes head*

Inconsiderate or otherwise doesn't figure in it at all, as their thinking is so messed up. They aren't doing it for fun.

I just hope that the person in question gets the help they need.

Imagine someone so desperate to stop the voices, feelings, sensations or thinking that they are not worth the oxygen.

Do they really give a monkies about a train driver? I very much doubt it.

If you can stop the voices in your head which tell you to do it and not give a **** what anyone else thinks then it's good. Make the buggers shut up and keep their bloody opinions to themselves or when they tell you to lay in front of the tracks ............... sometimes it's easier to lay down.

I'll take my hat off to you if you can get through the urge to blow your brains out. Hell, I'll even chuck in one of these

I may be wrong but the article attached above by cgksheff doesn't read to me like it was a suicide attempt. It sounds like it was an accident? It says that there were no suspicious circumstances. Would that mean it wasn't a suicide attempt?

No, it just means that no one else was involved regardless of whether the "fall" was deliberate or accidental.

Not a "fall" but a "jump":

....... after apparently jumping in front of a train .....

It was a definate jump. But a strange place to pick, not one of our usual spots as the trains are usually slowing down to stop in the platform anyway. Hope the guy gets the help he needs, but seems now that he's only added to his problems.

Through my work i have dealt with younger people, who truthfully believe their lives are not worth living. When someone gets to such a state of mind it takes real dedication and hard work to make them realise that actually they have got something to live for. I luckily did have a success story where one young person was adamant they had nothing to live for and was sure they wouldn't see 05 in. With alot of time, effort, love, affection and alot of reassurance this person is now thriving. My point is these people should be helped as much as possible, if any friends family etc see any signs of depression they should voice these opinions.

I know the person involved in all of this, and have known him a good few years.

I know what the background to all this is, and it is a desperately sad story

I think it's dreadful the way some people comment about suicide on the forum. They should count their lucky stars they've never been brought so low, for whatever reason. Please pass on my regards and best wishes. I've been there myself in my own way. I only hope he can find some hope, some light at the end of the tunnel.

No, it just means that no one else was involved regardless of whether the "fall" was deliberate or accidental.

Thanks for clarifying.

The article is somewhat confusing though as the first paragraph mentions jumping, then the second mentions falling. I think that such a serious article requires care when being written.

Anyway, brownieblade I hope your friend is able to find the help he needs.
