The only landmark neon sign I know of is the Woollens For Signs hoarding behind the Law Courts. While I don't expect Sheffield to rival Piccadilly Circus, does anyone know of any other significant works of neon art visible in the city?
This wouldn't include the standard bit and bobs of neon in takeaways and bars where it tends to proliferate (although the combined effect of the neon in the takeaways on the middle part of the Wicker does give a 'Blackpool' feel to the place).
More and more of the big city buildings seem to be lit up at night with blue-to-purple neon. I really like this: it makes the place more interesting at night. Particular highlights (!) are the tower block behind the Cathedral (St James's Tower?) which you can spot from as far away as the M1 and Totley, and the main staircase of West One. Perhaps blue lighting is less frowned upon as it causes less light pollution.
