Number 97 bus. Totley or totley brook. Catch it on High St near TJ Hughes or at the peace gardens

Bus 293 operated by TM Travel operates on Archer Road itself. Board in town on Arundel Gate, the bus will be bound for either Dronfield or Chesterfield.

Otherwise you can get a 97/97A/X18 bus, all operated by First, to nearby Abbeydale Road, bound for one of Totley,Totley Brook or Hanley. The 97/97A go from High Street and the X18 goes from the Interchange.

You can also board all the above at Moorfoot.

Timetables can be found at www.sypte.co.uk

Does the Tesco bus still run?

The Tesco Park and Ride bus does still run, and still rarely has passengers on it!

However it goes to Tescos car park, which is quite a walk from Archer Road.

It's 5 minutes down the road to one end of Archer Road, the other end is a long walk though.

The Powells Bus number 97A goes along Archer Road but they only run at certain times. I don't think they run after about 15:00 or at all on Saturday or Sunday.

Yes, despite the fact you can see Archer Road from Tescos car park - if only there was a bridge over the railway between Tescos and Sainsburys!

Indeed - I think the Powells buses go off to do the school eun at 3! Best bus for Archer Road itself is the 293, although that doesn't run evenings or Sundays.

AT the south end of archer road, after the railway bridge, and the old railway station house, there is a road which leads to the back pedestrian entrance of Tesco. It's open to the public, but little known. It's also part of a riverside walk which goes right through Millhouses park. And while you're at this end, If you venture a further 20 yards to Abbeydale road, you are on a main arterial road into the city, where you can catch lots of busses from and into town, which serve abbeydale, dore, totley etc..
