do any of you have problems recieving your paper as we have not had one for a long time and i was wondering if they have stopped delivering in dronfield:confused:

I always thought Dronfield was in Chesterfield. No wonder I failed geography! :)

Dronfield is in Derbyshire, but it's borderline Sheffield.

Is the Sheffield Gazzette a free paper?

I've never received any of the free papers so not sure what they're called.

I don't think the papergirls/boys get paid a lot. They used to dump them in the River Don when I was younger so that they got paid, but didn't have the hassle....?

Phone the Gazette up and they'll look into it for you...

I think its about a penny a paper.. although I could be wrong, personally I think they are a waste of paper myself

I've not received one for quite some time. I'd not even noticed that I don't receive it anymore until I just read this thread. I can't say that I miss it.

Why would you want to receive The Shefield Gazette? in terms of news, It's a travesty, and waste of trees.

I think sheffield is fast becoming a city of choice - rubbish!

We haven't had a Gazette delivered since before Christmas,I was wondering whether it has ceased publication if it is simply that there is no-one available to deliver it in our area. Anyone know?

I think I've seen about three in the past three or so years. I did know a lad who was pleased to get a job deliverying the gazette as it appeared to pay better than usual paper round. Then he discovered you were supposed to stuff the papers with all sorts of leaflets first, so it ended up too much like slave labour.

We get one every Thursday/Friday theres not much in it so goes more or less straight for re-cycling. It does say on the front that it covers Norton, Woodseats and Beauchief but it could cover othe areas as well

...... Anyone know?

I like the crossword and have not had a Gazette delivered in 2009, even though I have managed to see an odd copy. I sent them an e-mail to ask if there was a delivery problem and over a week later, am still awaiting an answer?

Noticed that it has recently changed to just cover Norton, Woodseats and Beauchief. Don't know if there are other editions for different areas. I rely on mine to put cat food down on.

Gazette isn't this the more annoying version of the Star. that has even less news in it.

Very reliable delivery in our area - Saturday morning around 10.00. And by 10.01 it's in the blue bin.

its hit and miss here in high green . sometimes we will get it every week for a few months , then we dont get one for weeks on end:confused::suspect:

our lad delivered the Look Local a couple of years ago and he got £5 for 100 copies

my dad delivered the gazette for quite a few years after he retired It got him out of the house and kept him fit.He also got to know quite a few of his regulars and kept an eye out for the elderly. My mum used to help him put the leaflets in and they earned a bit of money. Just before Christmas though they made him redundant but I still see adverts asking for deliverers. They then offered him a different round but its too big for him for to tackle though. Dont really understand why they stopped delivering in his area

Well,after reading an item in the Gazette about a spate of cellar grate burglaries in our area my husband jammed a large piece of wood into ours.
It's a good job he did because a few months later someone tried to get in through the grate (we could tell because the ashphalt was disturbed) but the wood prevented them from doing so.So I'm glad we did not bin ours!

During my spare time I go about the parks, woodlands and fields in the Gleadless Valley area picking up litter and other rubbish. I do this because I care about the area where I live.

While walking through Rollestone Wood on 19 / 02 / 12 I found two huge piles of Sheffield Gazette Newspapers that had been dumped. On close inspection I was very surprised to see all the newspapers were dated 12 February 2012.

I assume whoever is supposed to be delivering these newspapers in the Gleadless Valley area has decided to dump them in the woodland. I also assume the delivery person will have had the cheek to go back to the Gazette Office and claim their wage for (supposedly) having delivered the newspapers to people's homes.

Due to these newspapers having been dumped in a woodland I will be reporting my findings to Sheffield Parks and Countryside Ranger Service, as they are responsible for the management of all Sheffield city council owned woodlands and open spaces.

"Dumping of unwanted items is a criminal offence".

I don't mind receiving the SG, although its news coverage is on a par with The Star's [= minimal].
But this last weekend's never arrived (perhaps due to half-term?)

Live at Intake and always get it. Just full of leaflets though that go straight in the blue bin xxx

I get it, at Norton Lees, as I understand, its meant to be delivered on a Thursday, and is basically a pointless round up of a few stories from The Star the week before. Mine often gets delivered 4 or 5 days late.

I still receive one here in Lodge Moor.

It's ideal for getting the wood burning stove going.

Where we are, in S8, we've not had a Gazette for aaages, which is a shame as I used to quite enjoy leafing through it's (admittedly few) pages. Where is it? I think my folks in S10 still get one.
