View Full Version : Book-Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus cressida 12-05-2007, 09:04 Bought this at a book sale, anyone read it, how true is it? Jabberwocky 12-05-2007, 09:11 From what I can gather its one of those books that most can relate to but few have read. Once youve read it, we need the full lowdown on it. LordChaverly 12-05-2007, 09:11 Its both true and not true. In some ways men and women are very different and in other ways they are exactly the same. Hope this helps Cressida. I've got several editions of this book (given to me by female friends), but I have studiously avoided reading it. I think it appeals more to women rather than men. The author (a man) has made a fortune from it In any case, women these days don't have to be from Venus. They can be from the Yellow Pages or from the 'Personal Services' ads in newspapers. cressida 12-05-2007, 09:33 Its both true and not true. (I'm sure both of you will never need Yellow Pages or similar services) xxx Well cressida, we might need 'Yellow pages' if we decide to advertise our services as superstud escorts to wealthy women. Men aren't always from Venus these days - ask Lord Browne). cressida 12-05-2007, 10:00 Well cressida, we might need 'Yellow pages' if we decide to advertise our services as superstud escorts to wealthy women. I'd wager you'd be the successful ones (why do we live so far apart - ah lack a day) StarSparkle 12-05-2007, 12:36 I'd essentially agree with Lord Chaverly. There's perhaps some underlying modicum of truth in the concept that men and women are wired to think differently from each other - but really, that's such a gross generalisation as to be almost meaningless in terms of relating to actual people. To my mind, it encourages lazy thinking and stereotyping. Men and women are individual people first and foremost - it's a disservice to both sexes to suggest otherwise. StarSparkle |
