Yes I have had dogs before. We have always had one in the family when I was growing up. Ideally as big softie type would be wonderful. One that doesn't bother my cats of which I have 4. Also have a house bunny who has the run of the kitchen but do have a baby gate on the door to stop her from escaping and trying to chew on the telly wires. Lotti 12-05-2007, 08:02 I'm sure you know this as you've had dogs before, but it's important that your dog is never left with your bunny and that your cats have somewhere to escape to. I doubt my dogs would ever hurt my cats, but my cats always have somewhere to escape to when they've had enough and just in case :) when you say 'big softie type' - it doesn't really tell us much... here's a few questions for you to answer so we can help more: What size are you happy with? How much exercise can (and will) you provide per day? Will you want to do any extra activities, eg. tricks/heelwork to music, agility, working trials etc. How much grooming do you have time (and energy) for? How long would you have to leave the dog alone for? Mentalmomma 12-05-2007, 08:05 Thornberry have some lovely dogs and you can walk them see waht theyre like etc...........:hihi: savbaby 12-05-2007, 08:13 I'm sure you know this as you've had dogs before, but it's important that your dog is never left with your bunny and that your cats have somewhere to escape to. They would eat him if they had the chance.. I think it would be hard to have a dog on the loose with a bunny as its in most dogs instincts to chase these animals:rolleyes: Lotti 12-05-2007, 09:05 Many dogs live in harmony with house rabbits. My aunt has a collie x and a German Shepherd living with her house bunny and a friend of mine has a pet shop and owns a crossbreed that lives in harmony with the bunnies (she sits and grooms then when they come out for a run). However, you can never leave them unsupervised. |
