Hi

Just wondered if anyone knows how much water kittens should be drinking per day, I have googled it but cant find the information. At present they are drinking approximately 200ml per day between two, at 11 weeks, it seems to be a lot and I am filling up their water dish three times a day.

I remember a vet saying to me that it could be an indicator of kidney problems and Poppy has been ill recently. It just seems a lot but they are on dry food and my previous cat was not, she hardly drunk any water.

Thanks in anticipation. :)

Cats on dry food do drink more but I'm not entirely sure how much they should be drinking...

If you're concerned phone the vet and ask, if the vet suggests they should be drinking no less than they're drinking there's no worries, but they'll be able to tell you if you need to take them in or not :)

dry food does make them drink more! dont worry about it that sounds about right, remember they run about crazy (or is that just mine:suspect: ) and its warmer weather, kidney problems are more noticable as they drink more but wee less.

Thanks Lotti, just rung vets, I am so slow sometimes should have thought of that myself.

They have said it is around about normal. Think I am just worring with Poppy being really poorly last week.

If they're on dry food then they're likely to drink gallons- my lot have 2 huge stainless steel bowls that I fill up every day.

Are you sure that you're not worrying too much about them steely? The odds of a kitten getting kidney disease are really small, and the odds of them turning into demonic monsters are really high.

  Mine are 8 or 9 now (rescues) and, although they're calming down a tad, they still have their moments :D

It is nice to see someone worrying too much rather than not giving a damn though ;)

Of course- I'll grant you that one.

Caring is rarely a bad thing :)
