Has anyone here insured an animal they adopted as a stray? Almost every site you visit asks for the animals date of birth. What do you do when you don't know! We've had our cat 2 years - she's a happy, healthy animal but we want to insure her. Maybe they'd accept a report from a vet (our vet thought she was around 3 years old) - heaven knows how much that would cost!
Any animal adopted from a Shelter is subject to the same problem- most of the insurance companies are fine with you nominating a date that reflects their approximate age.
That's what I've done with all of my little ones who have been adopted from the Shelter, and I've never had a problem with any of my insurers on that- give them a call and estimate her age, and see what they say.

I've never had a problem insuring any rescue/adopted animal I have had. I always take them to the vet when I bring them home for a thorough health check and ask the vet to confirm how old they think they are, then I simply use the date that I adopted them as their birthday and I've never had a problem with that with the companies I have used.
