urrghhh silent witness is rubbish now amanda burton has gone, it was worth watching for a laugh when she was in it! im sorry but once a 'member of the team' has left a murder/ detective series loses its appeal to me, like the chief inspectors nephew that died in frost, and claire goose of of waking the dead and christopher eccleston out of cracker. granted he did go one to bigger and better things ...er.. so did robert carlise (who i think killed him!).

closing south road,someones getting a back hander then,i pay road tax so why cant i use south road? local government sleeze?

Taggart's still going strong even though he's been dead ages (and was rubbish anyway)

i disagree with Wilent Witness going downhill with Burton's departure, i never watched it precisely coz i couldn't stand her in it, the new crew is much more watchable.

They were filming in the entrance to the Cathedral this morning - it was all cordoned off, and there were loads of police around. I assume it was for Silent Witness

outside the cathedral is for Emlyn Hughes funeral

oh yeah - I completely forgot.

They were filming at the bottom of my street in Crookes a short while ago. I bet their continuity department must be having a mare with all the different weather we've been having and a forecast to have.

Me and my girlfriend walked past the italian restaurant at the top of Palm Street (joins South Road) last night after coming back from the pub and we saw a BMW Z3 ploughed through the window! We were stood a moment trying to figure out how this could have happened, then I saw the PANAVISION crane and put 2 and 2 together. Will keep my eye out for the TV show!

Does anyone know who has at the Council has authorised the closure of South Road
Caused loads of disruption, buses and deliveries diverted Police standing guard at the end of South Road - great use of their time, I even had to divert my journet in order to Rose public House!

Whoever it was deserves praise for a decision well made! On the whole, filming on location generates extra income for the local economy and is a good thing. Some councils even have entire departments set up to advertise their areas as film and tv locations for this reason. I'm not suggesting that Sheffield should go that far but we certainly have plenty of variety around here that could attract a lot of similar projects.

On a slight tangent, isn't the less than ideal state of the British Film Industry put down by some in part to the difficulites in location filming over here? Other countries are more than happy to suffer a little inconvenience but we like to make it really hard for film makers and thus lose out.

I think it's a great idea. Fair enough, a few motorists might be a tad late for work, but I've just been down there whilst they were filming, and South Road isn't even closed. Palm Street is (runs off South Road) but the traffic was moving great.

If you van get down to have a gander - go for it! The actors look great all walking around covered in fake blood.

Walked past them filming in Bar Coast (the old fire station) on Division Street around 5/6pm last night. Saw some guys dressed up as paramedics so I wonder if the bar will be the scene of a/the murder :suspect:

Apparently, the Central Fire Station Scene is where the detectives are looking for someone - the usual murder investigation plot, where the barman is shown a picture of a suspect/victim and is asked questions. I didn't get to find out if the barman knows more than he's letting on though, but it's all good fun...!
Incidently, they may have looked like paramedics, but they were all behind-the-scenes people.
Was the murder scene in an old works near there? I seem to recall something in the Telegraph.

They were filming in/around a warehouse here on Arundel Street last week for 2 days, another day someone walking with the pop museum in the background (to show its in Sheff?) and they've been filming in Division St when I've driven past twice this week. I've never watched Silent Witness, yet I feel like a stalker. I think the butler did it...

well if you had just been furthur down palm street a couple of years ago...you would have seen a merc (for real) crashed into the crown public house,it was my bro...a driver forced him off the road on that corner straight into it...he was very lucky to be alive

All 4 bobbies working that day were on their day off so it's not as if it was taking up police time.

They were also filming on Rustlings Road opposite Endcliffe Park last Friday 26th November. It was outside the end house by the mini roundabout, at the bottom of Riverdale road there was a line of large very posh caravans and Motor homes for the actors no doubt. There was also lots of security people about, very Hollywood!!!!

does anyone know when it will be on the telly?

I only found out that they were filming when i tried to get a bus home a few weeks ago (I live on south road) after being away for the weekend.

I watched it tonight and was trying to spot all the different places in Sheffield.

I couldn't quite figure out where the 'accident' happened though?

we spent most of the prog trying to spot which bits of sheffield were used!
were the outside mortuary shots done at the northern general?

I walked by the 'accident' when they were filming, I didn't see myself tho. Nor my dog.

They also filmed alot over Bolehills, maybe that will be in tonight's episode.

accident was filmed on south road, nr netto. but they built out a false shop fronts so this might be why you can't recognised it.

The police station bit seems to be the old building at the bottom of West St I think.

It certainly is, i walked past it one day last year and it had a little police latern on one of the gateposts... gone again the next day!!!

The police station is the back of the old grammer school that used to be in Leopold Street.

They showed the Bolehills and again me and me dog were nowhere to be seen.

No repeat fees for me then.
