Hi,
My PC just seems to lose power and shutdown immediately, the mouse is still lit, the power button on the monitor is still on, the speakers are still on. There doesnt seem to be a pattern of when it happens. Its sometimes happens when its been on 2minutes and sometimes when its been on over an hour.
I have to turn the power off at the main socket on the wall, wait a few seconds then turn it on again.
Also my PC is really slow and keeps freezing.
Can anyone help? :(

At a guess I would say a fan is not working properly and something keeps overheating so the PC turns off to protect it's self.
Open it up and make sure all the fans are working, if in doubt turn it off/unplug and give it a good clean out. You can always check the temp in the bios menu on boot-up and see if it is overheating that way first.

my PC did this , sometimes it would do it as it booted, as it burnt a DVD, sometimes it didn't do it for 9hrs but then did.
when you unplug it you have to plug it back in after the PSU has done it's hissing ?
Mine was a FAULTY power supply. It was tripping out whenever you did something like wanted extra power. My old PSU was 550wtts but it was one of the very early ones about 4 years old. I bought a 2007 550wtts and now it works perfect.
I'd bet anything that your PSU is on it's way out or it is dead and you could be causing further damaged by trying to keep it alive. My would do it one or two times a week and the week i swapped it it was turning off upto 4 times a day.

Most likely, overheating is a massive issue for computers.
I had a similar problem which was solved by adding extra heat/sync paste to the processor.

How would over heating explain the freezing? I am taking it to a computer shop and 10am and hopefully they will tell me it is something cheap to fix. Fingers crossed! Im lost without my PC!

over heating causes intermittent problems, normally from the cpu and ram
when ever theres intermittent problms its nearly always ram, psu or cpu

Could be anything really, but i guess it is most likely to be the power supply or an overheating issue.
