With people seeming to voice their opinions on CDs and films a lot on this forum, do you bear other people's reviews and opinions in mind before buying CDs/DVDs etc.

thanks ;)

Nope.

Will try and listen out for the music on the radio, or will try out at a listening post in a shop.

I'll take on board teh veiws of soemone I know, but as for professional critics, on the whole I agree with Mel Brookes' observation in History of the World Part 1 - that after the birth of art, came the after-birth - the critic.

nope

i may read about it but i wouldnt take their word for it...id rather listen to the cd or go watch the film myself and form my own opinion about it.

I would listen to my family and friends tho as they know what i like and trust what they recommend to me :)

No, if I don`t find new music myself, it is introduced by friends.

I take suggestions from one or two people that I know and trust their judgement on music.

I wont ask for anything more than them just suggesting to listen to something, so I don't have any precoceived ideas about what it is going to be like.

yes. i read one specific film magazine to try and get some consistency from the reviews. i don't just follow the ratings blindly however, the content of the review (what the film is about, etc) is as important to me as the number of stars.

as for music, i rely almost entirely on the 'your recommendations' section of amazon!
