Hi all, Purdy the rampant bloody-pooing bulimic (the four legged one, not me) had to go to the PDSA today. The envelope they handed me to put a donation in had my details written on it - in other words they will monitor how much I personally donate, rather than it being recorded as an anonymous statistic.

I really didn't like this, I felt slightly paranoid about being judged, and as I have no idea what other people contribute, I've no idea where I am on the scale anyway. I disliked it so much I even felt disinclined to leave a donation (I did, though) because I had no idea how and where that information would be used.

Why have they started doing this this and what do you think about it? :help:

I don't know why but I hope they have a good reason. I think I would've made a scene and said I would prefer to leave my donation in an unmarked envelope (just to be a pain :D)

I don't think that's on at all :nono:

I'm with you on this Purdy :suspect:

was there any information you were given on the data protection act, and what exactly they were legally entitled to do with your info?

Not on the envelope. There may be something printed stuck to the wall, but the walls are crammed with info and notices, so I didn't look. Maybe there's something in the info pack that's still in my bag, but at the moment of reception, no-one's read it and there's a lot to read through.

I wish I could have said something at the time, but I was more worried about The Pudding.* I just wanted to sound people out first and see if there was any knowledge on SF. If I go back I'll definitely say something. I've not been snowed under with replies, though. :hihi:

*over two hours stuck in a travel box with gastroenteritis. :gag:

If I were you, if it happens again I'd be tempted to ask for a blank envolope unless they can give an adequate explanation of why they need these details.

Why not just ring and ask they won't know who you are and no reason why they shouldn't tell you, i would ring for you but they are closed now :)
