OK, last time I bought a mobile it made phone calls and send txt messages, and it cost very little. Now it seems things are a little more complicared and I have no idea of how to find out what sort of mobile phone I want, let alone which one to buy or where to buy it.

I just looked on the carphonewarehouse site and got lost in about 2 seconds. So if anyone knows an idiots guide site, that would be good.

I think what I want though is:

Camera and vid camera will be fun
perhaps be able to play games
not fussed about email or video downloads
MP3 player
SD memory compatible
USB link for my PC.

I don't make that many calls.

CPW did have this one that looked quite good - opinions anyone?

I've got this phone - this is on the 3 network. Lovely phone. I got a different deal through Phones 4 U but if you don't make that many calls there doesn't seem much point in you having 500 minutes per month. You may be better going for another network with a smaller call allowance but where you can get more text allowance and a larger range of phones to choose from.

I like the LG - I've had it since the 29th of last month - this phone doesn't have a separate memory card though the 32mb memory is on the phone itself - it does however come with a datacable and the software so that you can hook it up to your pc but on 3 there are no games on the handset and you can only download from 3 as they do not have open access internet (not really a problem to me), but I can tell you where to get some games from if you pm me (too long to put on here). As far as the mp3 player is concerned - this is fine but space is limited if you store videos too - again you can transfer these to your pc.

You may find that alot of phones now do not include the usb lead and you have to buy this separate - which can cost anything from £10 to £30 depending on what comes with it. I recently tried the Motorola E550 as an upgrade from T-Mobile but that didn't come with a lead or any software and I couldn't find anything that was compatable with it so sent it back - this is also a nice phone but it was basically too new but this will no doubt change soon.

I hope this helps.

I know where your'e at - I lost my housebrick phone recently, which was really annoying as I intended to keep it forever and ever (or at least until it ceased functioning).
