The people I know firstly had problems getting the broadband activated, and then once they'd got connect it was slow, and unreliable. When they tried to contact customer support they spent several months on hold...

BasilRathbon 09-05-2007, 13:32 Talk Talk made some excellent albums back in the 1980s, so I think it's pretty cheap for some tacky phone company to be using their name.
But then what do I care? I'm on a 12 month contract with Aflockofseagulls.

bhunaboy 09-05-2007, 13:55 I signed up for talktalk and was told that my activation date would be 3 months away as they were not up and running yet. I actually got online well before this date and I have found the internet connection to be 100% reliable and fast.
I have had a few problems with email but, to say it's free, i can't really complain.
maybe you get what you pay for in this country!
I think you do with internet... We pay £23.99 a month for the pipex internet, and in the 5+ years I've been with them, not had a problem ever. Except when I was living at home and my dad changed his credit card without telling them... we were back online within hours though!
Bexstars 09-05-2007, 14:45 Im with talk talk and have been for a very problematic year! where to start!
Firstly they cut our internet supply from our previous supplier which was onetel (same comapny really) then failed to send us a modem for over a month so we was without any connection. Everytime we called was told one was on its way...it never was and thats after being on hold for more than half an hour! in the end we went to carphone warehouse and complained. Since we have been connected it constantly cuts us off, wont let us log on saying that the username or password is incorrect when it isnt, try again half an hour later with the same details and it connects! Whenever we have called to get help with the internet we have been told there is nothing wrong with it, and they never let us speak to anyone different. Most of the time they dont understand what the problem is as im guessing they ahve a sheet to read from and if your problem isnt on there your buggered!
We are currently having more problems with them as we have bought a new pc which runs on windows vista which you need a new modem for. After waiting a month for this, it doesnt work!!
I have never had so many problems with a company before and I cant wait till our contract runs out with them

Oh dear, I think I will stick to virgin then who I have never had a problem with! I have moved my BT line already, will my internet still work in a different house if I have the same phone number still?
Thanks
I signed up with Talktalk on the first day it was launched back in April last year, I had a very traumatic time with them. Looking back now I can see the reason, it was such a good buy that everyone was signing up at the same time and they just coundn't cope with it. It took about 3months for me to get fully connected with the telephone and broadband. Apart from very few problems which you will get from any company I am very happy and as it was said right at the begining of this discussion it doe's seem too good to be true but it is a fact it so cheap, when you can ring anywhere in the country and quite a bit of the world 24hrs a day for £20 per month including broadband you can stand a little hiccup or two. My phone calls last month were 57p and they were for 0845 numbers. Go for it, good value.
auto98uk 10-05-2007, 11:49 Under no circumstances use TalkTalk - their customer services are far far far the worst that i have ever seen
last week spent hours on the phone to them - put through to 5 depts (none of whom could find my details) before being put through to a 6th "dept" - who turned out to be Yes Loans and nothing whatever to do with TalkTalk
I ended up cancelling the cheque for the last payment i made, on the basis that they would suddenly "find" my details when they haven't been paid - guess what ?
Got a call telling me I would be cut off if I didn't pay!
They were also on watchdog recently with an average time for answering thwir phones at something like 30 mins
Bexstars 10-05-2007, 11:54 I was on hold with them last night for 15 mins and then got cut off!!
Im going down to the carphone warehouse tomorrow to let them sort it out, Im so sick of wasting time with them. I seriously advise anyone thinking of joining up not to do. Everyone I know who has joined up has had the same problems as me
simone1975 10-05-2007, 12:07 I have this package.
It took a VERY long time to get connected.
OMG-Talk talk are terrible
DO NOT USE unless you want to waste part of your life.
I wasted over 2 hours just last week trying to speak to some one regarding an account, they had no recollection of name, address or ref i was was giving them even though i was ringing from an invoice!!!
I was told they do not have a complaints department or telephone number for 1
I was also transfered to Yes loans,
I was cut off several times,I was even directed to an automated answering machine that said sorry please ring back latter.
So frustrating GGrrrrrrr
NEVER USE THIS COMPANY

:( Snap!!!!
Do not touch Talk Talk with a bargepole.
Phone line - fine
Broadband - terrible.
Customer service - even worse.
trainzfast 10-05-2007, 15:23 i use talk talk, the broadband was up and working before the expected date, the phone line was on time. you can call endless european contries as well as uk landlines free, all for £20 a month, it's a bargain

I second that. I had big problems for weeks before I was connected, and that was only sorted out when my son took me to Carphone Warehouse. They sorted it in minutes.:suspect:
Now,I keep getting cut off every time I'm on the web.
But, it IS very cheap.I pay around £20 a month for the telephone and free broadband.
It cuts off approx twice in an hours internet session, having to repair wireless connection during these times. I also continually get a dial-up box appearing every so often, just annoying, but extremely cheap. Was previously with BT, well pricey but really smooth in comparison.
MinxyKitten 30-05-2007, 10:41 I have recently moved house and virgin internet have told me it will take two weeks for BT to re re-route my internet and get me access again...is there anything i can do to speed this up? I am in desperate need of the net as I have to mark exam papers online its a nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm with talk talk (though not on Ecclesall Road) and have been since it first came out, and had no problems with connection etc. (touch wood) I have not had to call their customer services - guess I'm one of the lucky ones.
